The success of every project depends upon the cooperation, coordination and
united effects of several sources of materials knowledge and energy. However, it
would not have been possible without the kind support and help of any

Educational and Cultural Society NGO, (Jan Jagriti Foundation) for allowing me to
volunteer for the project social outreach.

I offer my regards to Amity University for encouraging all of us for social work. My
deep regards & my heartfelt gratitude to my HVCO Teacher Dr. Shweta Sharma is
owned for her tremendous support all the way. I’m indebted to everyone who

About
Jan Jagriti is a society that works towards improving the condition of the weaker
sections. They provide education, skill development to all underprivileged children.

Vision
A community where children and youth are highly valued and are provided the
maximum opportunity to reach their full potential.

Mission
To provide free education to weaker sections of society and to make them self reliant.

Genesis of idea and creation of NGO.
Jan Jagriti Educational and Cultural Society (Regd.) NGO was founded by the joint effort
of a dynamic visionary, Late Shri D.N. Chaturvedi, Retd. Special correspondant, The
Tribune and his wife, Late Mrs. Meera Chaturvedi, Retd. Vice Principal, Kendriya
Vidyalaya, a poetess and host of many programmers’ on social issues on Doordarshan,
Jalandhar and All India Radio, Jalandhar.

After retiring from their respective professions, they wanted to spread education and
awareness among the underprivileged children of the society. Therefore, in 2003, they
started with 3 children in a park adjacent to their house in Sector-29, Faridabad. Maids
working as helpers in the houses, rickshaw pullers, auto drivers, taxi drivers who are so
poor that they cannot afford to send their children to school are given free education.
Through personalized services, quality training and education, Jan Jagriti Foundation
aims to build self confidence of the people by providing them with education and work
opportunities to live their life with utmost dignity and respect. The sole purpose of this
NGO is to make people aware and educate about different things which they are not
aware about.

Social activity or community activity programme


Today, Jan Jagriti hosts 90 children to whom apart from free education, free stationery,
clothes and gifts are also distributed. Society, which now has 22 members, believes in
holistic development of the children and therefore moral education, social
development, patriotism, respect for women, old and disabled is also stressed upon. It is
a living example of Unity in diversity where all festivals like Diwali, Dussehra, Holi, Eid
and Christmas are celebrated with zeal and vigor thus inculcating in children a feeling of
respect for all religions. Independence Day and Republic day is also celebrated with the
hoisting of the Indian National Flag and skits on patriotism.

25th December is celebrated every year as the Founder’s day. On this occasion blankets,
jackets and sweaters were distributed to all the children. Russians and other foreigners
are actively involved in the Society giving children a global understanding of things and
their culture.
Jan Jagriti Foundation is an independent organization including various volunteers, be it
students, professors, founders, doctors, professionals etc. who set up various seminars
and workshops to support and heep and make people aware about everything which
the lower state of society might not probably know.

It was a proud moment for the Society when one of their students got selected in
Computer Diploma Engineering in Otawar, Haryana 2012. The society is bearing all the
expenses of the education.
Supporters & Volunteers
Students and the Founders have constantly supported the foundation by extending their
hands. Students and the Founders have learnt about the leadership skills and styles by
volunteering themselves in teaching the underprivileged students.
Activities
Jan Jagriti Foundation organizes various events to educate people about the importance
of education. They give the students the platform for learning self defense. They spread
warmth in the winters by distributing blankets. Jan Jagriti Foundation provides free
health care facilities and wellness by hosting health camps and education.
Raising Funds
Basically, Jan Jagriti Foundation generally does not have any particular funds for itself.
The founders along with volunteers and students raise the funds. It is upon the students
how much they wish to contribute. The volunteers donate the amount of Rs1000 and
register themselves in the organization. Further funds are raised by volunteers and
people who take part in events and workshops. Generally, the funds are raised by
collaborating with agencies and also during events at public places.

Success Stories/ Awards


 It was a proud moment for the Society when one of their students got selected in
