BACKGROUND

The production and distribution of purified, safe and affordable drinking water was conceived by
its President and Chief Executive Officer in 1991 when the need was so magnified after super
typhoon Ruping (the Philippine name for internationally christened typhoon Mike) hit Cebu,
Philippines sometime in November, 1990. The destruction it had caused brought unimaginable
havoc and paralyzed the whole island. There was no electrical power which also caused the
disruption of the water distribution. The populace were only relying on unsafe deep well water
sources. This resulted on an outbreak of water bound diseases like El Tor, Cholera, Diarrhea and
Hepatitis.
The need for a safe drinking water was an immediate concern. The demand for safe bottled
drinking water products was emphasized. Unfortunately, these where not readily available in the
market. There was only a handful local brands and few expensive foreign bottled water. Stocks
were very few and in some cases no supply at all.
This demand, during that time of emergency caused by a natural calamity and the development
of kidney stones on its now President and CEO, primarily due to the local water source's high
mineral content (particularly lime) was instrumental in realizing the need to come up with
solutions.
A comprehensive research and hands on training was then undertaken in the United States about
the industry, the product, and the technical aspects of the manufacturing and production of
purified bottled water. With its unrelenting success, Nature’s Spring Water gives back to the
Filipino community by stepping up during calamities. They provide free supply of deep well
water or non-processed water and discounts on their bottled water. They also believe their
corporate social responsibility in education and tourism means opening their plant gates to the
public by allowing educational tours within their facilities. This also ensures “transparency and
confidence in quality.”

The very first Nature’s Spring factory is located at Cebu city. Nature Spring Water is a

Strengths:

Nature Springs ensure their products by checking the quality of the bottle, the water test,
machinery that ensures the consumer’s safety when buying the said product. They check this
daily to prevent any possible case of malfunctions, they reject those bottles which are defective.
They check the water content if it is balance, the labeling of the product if it is correctly placed.
Their capacity also to produce 200 bottles per minute and 31,500 per hour with a lot of checking

either human or machine error. There can be cases of mistakes that can lead in a huge profit loss.
That can affect the brand image due to the less quality of the product.

If nature springs product can produce good quality product and customers satisfaction will rise
because of their good production. Quality is a huge factor to these type of businesses because the
quality of the product can lead to good reviews that can encourage more market and more
income to their product. And also due to their machinery their opportunities rises because they
are open to add more machines that can make their work twice as productive.

The threats in the quality of the product is one’s huge miscalculation which was discussed in the
