REACTION PAPER ON THE MOVIE “THE PEOPLE VS. LARRY FLYNT”

Every Constitution in whatever country provides for freedom of expression in

order for people to express their feelings, knowledge and personality through arts, the
clothing they use and many more, but I believe that this freedom of expression should
not be of that nature which will shock or insult the consciousness of other people and
which should not also violate the rights of others.

The movie People vs. Larry Flynt proved us that lawyers can make a wrongful act not
appear to be wrongful because even though it is clear that there was violation on the
part of the accused a lawyer can make such accused be acquitted by finding ways to,
as long as the accused has the means to retain the lawyer up until the end, Just like the
lawyer who represented Larry Flynt he managed to have a favourable decision for Larry
Flynt in the Supreme Court of US although the magazine of Larry Flynt which shows
women with no clothes at all is scandalous and clearly an insult to all the women, and
that the attitude of Mr. Flynt when in court is really disturbing because his words are not
proper and he always insults the court.

The magazine “Hustler” is a clear evidence that Mr. Flynt not just violated a law but also
the magazine violated the rights of the people in the community to have a society which
is modest, but he got out of it because he invoked his right to freedom of expression
which is ensured by the constitution but I believe that the freedom of expression does
not apply in this case because the purpose of Mr. Flynt is not to express his self through
that magazine but his purpose was to earn money so that men will buy such magazine
and will patronize it and also his business.

Every person is entitled to express themselves freely but it should also be noted that
acts of individuals in freely expressing themselves should not violate the rights of others
and should not become a way for the next generation to forget modesty.
