CHEVRON ISLAND PARKING AND ACCESS
The City of Gold Coast is delivering a cultural,
artistic and civic heart at Evandale – 16.9 hectares
of land at Surfers Paradise known as HOTA, Home
of the Arts.
HOTA will evolve over the next 10 years, as funding becomes
available. It will provide new and expanded facilities for performing
and visual arts, cultural events, civic celebration, recreation and
dining and entertainment experiences.
The first of the construction phases began in 2015 with Stage 1a.
HOTA Outdoor Stage and concert lawn. It was completed in late
2017 ahead of schedule and within budget. Work on the Stage 1b
HOTA Gallery and green bridge to Chevron Island will commence
soon with construction occurring concurrently.
While we are building our cultural future, events and activities will
continue at HOTA.

Green Bridge to Chevron Island (2018-2019)
A pedestrian and cycle bridge spanning the Nerang River will
provide a vital connector between HOTA, Chevron Island, Surfers
Paradise, the light rail and beyond. The green bridge is central to
the success of HOTA.
The northern landing site connects to Mawarra Street, at the
western gateway to Chevron Island’s business district, forming the
start of an active cultural corridor from HOTA into central Surfers
Paradise.
Public transport options and water transport will also increase
over time, providing more ways to access the evolving HOTA
precinct.
However, some parking changes will be needed to facilitate
construction (See over page).
Construction work will occur mainly during the day, Monday to
Saturday between 6.30am and 6.30pm. Advance notice will be
