Fun on 8 Wheels: The Best Local Roller Rinks

Get a heaping helping of healthy family fun with a side of nostalgia by taking your team to a
local roller rink! It’s the perfect indoor activity for the whole family: the littles can burn off that
energy (especially on a rainy day) while you take a roll down memory lane (throw back tunes
almost always included). And no worries if you’re not quite ready to get back up on those
skates—many rinks offer lessons and tutorials. Your kids will be shooting-the-duck in no time.
Read on for the best family-friendly rinks in the Bay.

The Church of 8 Wheels

though kids are also welcome on Thursday evenings. And- they’re half price!

Hours: Family Skate Sat., 3–5 p.m. See schedule for additional times, as some nights are
adults-only.

This retro rink is all about the skate, and has been for more than 60 years. It’s got a perfect ‘80s
vibe and their birthday party prices can’t be beat: public sessions start at just $7/person. They
offer skate lessons on Sat. for all ages, both beginner and immediate. Classes are $40/series of
four. The hours are limited and they close from 4 – 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays (but then reopen for
Disco Night!) so it’s probably a good idea to check the website or call the rink before heading
over.
