Revisiting Chronicles

Today's habits, attitudes and behaviors are increasingly being put under the mainstream,
and we can get enough of learning more about them. So, to get a picture of this generation's
lifestyle, this essay will unfold the narratives of what a typical day in the life of a global
generation looked like.
Everywhere we look, there are cell phones, computers, tablets, smartphones, hand-held
video games players, and much more. In the 21st century, many people do not know how it was
a hundred or more years ago. Over the years, media has grown in a tremendous way, but one
thing has remained the same; the way it can influence many people all over the world.
From a distant past, Video games have always interested me, ever since I was a young
lad. I began playing video games when I was at a young age; it started with the mini-game
console that had I think knobs and six control buttons. A few years later, it was changed with on-
the-go Gameboy with a lot of enjoyable gaming series and improved resolutions fit in small
pocket. Enrico, my old friend, who lived in the apartment house managed by my aunt, had this
cool Gameboy. He's rich and handsome so my cousins and I always love to go on his place to
play and borrow his gaming console. I remember that sometimes we feel wrath whoever is greed
to play. Haha! Next, after a span of a few years, my family purchased the PlayStation, which was
an innovation of its time. The PlayStation Two with a better selection of games and improved
graphics did a way to revolutionize our childhood experience. For me, PS2 was the best gaming
console of all time, as a matter of fact, our PS2 is still in good condition. We play games like
‘Burnout’, ‘Prince of Persia’, ‘Final Fantasy’ and GTA San Andreas, to name a few. Part of
gaming is, of course, beating our uncles' highest scores then enjoying eating chocolates from
abroad like Toblerone, Guylian and Lindt.
With the advance of technology, our world is becoming smaller making it a so-called
global village because aside from the gaming consoles, the newest software installed in our
mobile phones is taking part in our lives with numerous looks yet useful features. For instance, I
use Facebook to chat and socialize with my friends, post whatever running on my mind and have
a discussion with groups where we share various interests. I also use Twitter for worldwide
updates, Youtube for streaming videos, Google for searching and download global contents, and
working on my online blogging where I posted a recent topic about my 'Ghosting: A Nightmare
on my Relationship' through an app called Tumblr.
If someone told me that I would have to be technology-free for 24 hours, I would
probably have asked them for a tranquillizer so I could sleep through the horrid day. HAHA!
From the moment my alarm clock goes off in the morning to the time I set it at night, I am using
some technology.
Now that I'm done recalling about my history, I must say that this product of
globalization is indeed impressive. It is a wonder how we can even keep up with the technical
advances that are happening. Today you might be reading this through your mobile phones or
laptop, but I'm pretty sure that someday you'll be reading global contents not on your electronic
gadgets but in a more advance thin glass with holographic effect.
At last, this has been Kenneth Charles A. Martin unfolding my narratives as a certified
global citizen.
