Flores and Mangulbanan

FACTS: Accused Flores and Mangulabnan were public officers. as they were the Presiding Judge and
Court Interpreter (it is not his duty to render judgement), respectively. It is also undisputed that accused
Mangulabnan acted as a conduit (co-conspirator) of accused Flores when she received the amount of
Php20,OOO.OOfrom Manalastas and delivered the same to accused Flores." Accordingly, the said
amount was given to accused Flores in consideration of the rendition of a judqement'" in favor of
Manalastas, who had a pending election protest case before his sala. Such rendition of judgment, being
an act that does not constitute a crime (unjust), relates to the function of accused Flores as a Presiding
Judge.

ISSUE: WON, MANGULBAHAN as a court interpreter who conspired with Judge Flores is guilty of Direct
Bribery

Held: YES. The crime committed is Bribery there being conspiracy. Both accused Flores and
Mangulabnan are co-principals, being co-conspirators in committing the crime of direct bribery.
