To accelerate the efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage and

to put focus on sanitation, the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, launched the Swachh
Bharat Mission on 2nd October, 2014.
The Mission aims to achieve a Swachh Bharat by
2019, as a fitting tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary.
By inviting people to participate in the drive,
the Swachhta Abhiyan has turned into a National Movement. A sense of
responsibility has been evoked among the people through the Clean India
Movement.
People from different sections of the society
have come forward and joined this mass movement of cleanliness. From
government officials to jawans, bollywood actors to the sportspersons,
industrialists to spiritual leaders, all have lined up for the noble work.

Following is a short story that would help us to understand swachta

abhiyan better.
Recently I along with my college batch-mates went for a swachhta
mission, wherein we cleaned up a small space for some small under-privileged children to sit and
study. As we went there we saw that small place where some of these children used too sit and
study was full of garbage, cut down tree blocks, leaves. There were even insects like coakcroches
and spiders . But these children used to sit and study for the reason that, that place had street
lamp over it, (Due to some winds the direction of the lamp was changed and now it was above this
area along the footpath, rather on the street ), and the second reason was that those children had
a will to study, but nobody supported them, because mostly the children belonged to the famiies of
beggars. So on hearing this, we immediately stood up for the cause, went there, cleaned that place
up , and we teach those children too. The
mission Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is being spread
on wide scale and that too aggresively.
For promotion of ODF policy
publics toilets are being counstructed in different
cities and villages across India.
In the Year 2017, Uttar Pradesh
created a record by creating almost 3.52 lakh
units of toilet in 17 days under the Center’s
Swachhta hi Seva caimpaign. Also the mission is
widely being promoted in schools and colleges, Me, cleaning the place, for children to study..
so the young and the upcoming generation starts knowing the value of cleanliness.
