ASHLYN TORCOTTENES: The Last Royal of the Dragons

Chapter 1: Myths and Lies

The fire ended everything. Everyone blamed my family for it and killed every royal at sight
during the night of the execution- except me. The last royal of the dragons.

My parents were the king and queen of the largest town in the West of Krinatoa, where
the dragons lived amongst the humans. You can see these massive creatures walking and flying on
the town of Aftavilleo, like the Bakunawa which is a river dragon living near the ports where all
fishermen gather to take their afternoon catch; The Sarkany, a dragon in human form, hiding
among trees and mimicking the features of every townsfolks. Kur, the first ever dragon known to
human kind that still walks on our city along with many other dragons that has developed and
adapted over time. The strongest and mightiest dragon also saunters around the town, protecting
the people and most especially the royalties away from the dangers that lingers outside the city:
The Dragon Kings.

The Dragon Kings were the symbol of nobility, strength, and courage. They are the rulers
amongst the dragons on different bodies of water especially the rivers and the seas. The dragon
kings represent each of the four Seas: The East, The South, The West, and the North Sea but these
creatures were more than that, they control the underground world where hellish fires continue to
blaze. Thus, every town around us complied to every negotiations and agreed to every arbitration
just to appeal to the dragon king, least they know what it is capable of.

The town of Aftavilleo lived in harmony, my father did his valiant duty as a king and my
mother as the queen. The royals knew the hearts of the people, they possessed the values of true
royals: Empathy and Unselfishness, or so I thought.

My Father, King Krivano was the eldest son of the late King Vitojo the II of Grandela.
Before the passing of King Vitojo the only land left amongst the royals was Aftavilleo after the
rest of the lands were sold to the town of Delsanka for the marriage proposition of the late king
to the king of Delsanka. This was after the necromancer from their lands saw the prophecy of both
lands tied together on the third generation where two royals bound by fate will rule their lands
together and thus, with the marriage of the two first born royals come great abundance and
bountifulness during the time of their dynasty. Both kings agreed that their soon great grandson
and granddaughter would be the greatest royals that ruled bringing both their names from
dynasties to dynasties.

Not until the first blood moon, where both queens, Queen of Aftavilleo and Queen of
Delsanka gave birth to their first born daughters.

Chapter 1: Before Hell

“You, Necromancer, have committed the crime of perjury and have risked the lives of both
kingdoms. You are sentenced to death by beheading once King Frolos of Delsanka arrives!” King
Vitojo said trying to sound as powerful as before despite the sickness that has stricken him due to
his old age. The Necromancer continued to beseech the King and the high panels of judges inside
the room that it is the only truth and truth he says. “The red moon will rise again once two turns
twenty and four, Blood will walk on the halls and chairs where royals will cry and tear!” The
necromancer yelled as the guards dragged him outside the room of the King to the chambers of
prisoners.

“Imbecile” The King said. “Father” the then Prince Krivano approached the weak looking
king. “I will see to it that you take rest, I will do my duty as the soon King while you regain your
health” He slowly bowed to his Father who have gone old and weary over the years that he has
served his Kingdom. “My son, I am afraid that I will be gone and the disarrays done by foolish
people will mark the end of our names on dynasties. I am dying and what I will leave is burden to
the kingdom and townsfolk.” The sick stricken king fretted. “I am a royal father; we have come
from a generation of strong warriors ever since King Juleseio III. Do not fear for I have the blood
of the warriors flowing within me” The king placed a small smiled and knew deep inside that the
kingdom was in good hands. “You are truly a descendant of kings, King Krivano of Aftavilleo, My
son. Long live the New King” The king said as the panel of judges’ nod in agreement.

The brother of the present king, thought otherwise. Prince Behrouz knew to himself that he
has trained all his life to be a King and a warrior. Possessed the strength, intelligence, and courage
of being the true king. He trained with the strongest dragons and strongest knights. Fought the
enemies of the town and protected himself from the dangers outside the protection of the guard
dragons. He knew well that he deserved the crown more than his brother who knew nothing but
diplomacy and silent talks. “Fool is a man who does not swank his strength to his enemies” He
murmured to himself as he slowly closed the door of his father, although he disagrees that his older
brother be made king the law prevails that only first born sons of kings are to take throne after
the king steps down or dies. It was only lawful that his brother takes the crown.

Unless he dies, of course. A small smile formed the lips of the prince. “He was no brother to
me, nor will he ever be.” Said the prince as he went down to the chamber of the Typhons.

Chapter 1: Betrayal and Fires

The Typhons. One of the ever majestic dragons that ever walked the earths and is the deadliest among
all dragons, especially when it falls into the wrong hands.

Prince Behrouz slowly approaches one of biggest hollow-like chamber filled with darkness. “Speak,
Mortal!” The sound of chains clapping was heard along the hallways as the chamber inside was filled with
hellish fire. The prince slowly took the keys opening up the lock of the chamber, he knew how powerful the
dragon was and he knew as well that the dragon will grant his every wish.

“As the descendant of Zeus, King of the Gods of Mount Olympus, I order you Typhon, to slay the first
born son of King Vitojo the II of Grandela and the new born daughters of both kingdoms. It is only right that the
prophecy be fulfilled as I become king and my wife bears the kingdom its first born son”. The prince laughed
loudly as the chains unclasped and the dragon started to fly across the chamber and darted into the sky.

The loud siren filled the whole kingdom. The Typhon was seen by the Night guards and started to
alarm the whole kingdom as the dragon is slowly approaching the Main Castle. The panel of judges quickly
approached the now awake royalties. “My king, the typhon has awaken it is only right that you and the
queen hasten to flee along with your first born princess!” One of the judges exclaimed. “No! The kingdom
needs its king on times like this. Go and get the lady in waiting and tell her to take the queen and the princess
to the tree of life.”

“Ashlyn” The king softly kissed the head of her first born princess carried by the queen. “Ashlyn
Torcottenes, the last of mine” The king smiled as he kissed her queen for the last time. “Be safe Vitojo, we
need you” The teary eyed queen said as she tried to muster her strength in front of the King. “Raise her as
the way she should go, she is a royal and the next descendant of the kingdom, on her twenty fourth birthday
give her my sword of honour” The king said as he handed the long sword of Zeus to the queen.

The queen hurried with the lady in waiting as the tree of life opened and saved them from the fires.
