About this document
This document describes how to gather information from various Converged System
components to obtain a system inventory.
The target audience for this document is Professional Services, Manufacturing Operations,
Customer Services Support, Deployment and Installation, or any other personnel that need the
current Converged System configuration information to assess incremental deals, renewals, or
upgrades.
The Dell EMC Systems Configuration Reporter does not collect any sensitive data, such as IP
addresses or firewall information, in the collected output.
CPSD Systems: VxBlock Systems, Vblock Systems, VxRack FLEX & Vscale Systems.
Environment: The Configuration Reporter is run from Windows 7 or 10 environments.
Internet browsers: The Configuration Reporter runs on any recent versions of Google
Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer 11, or Windows 10 Edge.
MSM import: The Configuration Reporter supports the creation of collection profiles
through MSM import with Vision software version 2.6.0 and later.
LCS import: The Configuration Reporter supports the creation of collection profiles
through LCS import with version 2.0.19 and later.
Accessibility: The Configuration Reporter is available to download for CPSD personnel
only.
Current features of the Configuration Reporter:
Collects configuration information from various CPSD System components.
Collected data is available in various data formats, for example, JSON, Excel, and XML.
Collected data can be exported in CRG and CMDB report type formats.
Emails CRG and CMDB reports directly to CPSD personnel or CSPD teams from the
tool for archiving or analysis.
Compares current CPSD System configuration with user selected target RCM train and
lists out the hits and misses showing all the components which would need upgrade to
reach target RCM.
Ability to import old CRG reports (generated by Configuration Reference Guide Tool or
Systems Configuration Reporter) and compare them with newly collected CPSD
System current configuration to provide changes made to the system since last
collection or upgrade.
Predicts and lists closest RCMs based on the collected configuration information of the
CPSD system.

Downloading the Systems Configuration
Reporter
The Systems Configuration Reporter is available on the CPSD Flexnet Operations website.
About this task
This software platform is available for CPSD personnel use only. There are two ways to
download the Systems Configuration Reporter:
Flexnet Operations website: You must have a Flexnet account to access this website.
A new account can be requested using Service Now.
The Syncplicity share Dell EMC SCR -Sprint bits - In order to access this Syncplicity
share, you must have a Syncplicity account. Please email dellemc.scr@vce.com to
request access to this folder. The SCR bits are updated at the end of every sprint.
Procedure
1. To download the Systems Configuration Reporter from Flexnet:
a. Go to https://vce.flexnetoperations.com/control/vcec/index.
b. Select VCE - Internal. If you have one account on Flexnet, you will be brought
directly to VCE - Internal. If you have access to multiple accounts, you must
select VCE - Internal.
c. Select Internal Use only: Misc Reports, and Internal Documentation from
the list of items.
d. Expand Dell EMC Systems Configuration Reporter using the + icon under
New Versions tab.
e. Download the zip file and unzip it on your desktop.
f. Unzip Dell_EMC_SCR-Sprint_bits.zip to your desktop.
g. Unzip SCRDependencies.zip to C:\scripts\.
2. To download the Systems Configuration Reporter from the Syncplicity share:
a. Open the Dell EMC SCR -Sprint bits folder and download the zip files
according to your need –
dellhci-systems-configuration-reporter.zip is HCI
version of SCR supporting only VxRack Flex
dellci-systems-configuration-reporter.zip is CI
version of SCR supporting all components in Vxblock, Vblock, VxRack
and Vscale.
SCRDependencies.zip.
b. Unzip SCRDependencies.zip to C:\scripts\.
d. Navisphere CLI:
i. Open the installer NaviCLI-Win-32-x86-en_US-7.33.0.0.15-1.exe.
ii. On the Introduction page, click Next.
iii. Do not change the default settings and click Next.
iv. Select Do not create security credentials file and Low, and click
Next.
v. Click Install to proceed with the installation.
vi. Click Finish.
e. Unisphere CLI:
i. Open the installer UnisphereCLI-Win-32-x86-en_US-3.0.0.1.16-1.exe.
ii. On the Introduction page, click Next.
iii. Do not change the default settings and click Next.
iv. Select Low and click Next.
v. Click Install to proceed with the installation.
vi. Click Finish.
Panduit Power Distribution Units collection needs the following additional steps:
1. Open https://Panduit PDU IP address in a browser and log on using
admin credentials.
2. Click Setup > SNMP NMS.
3. Add the IP address of the laptop on which Systems Configuration Reporter has
been installed.
4. Add the community string from the Logical Configuration Survey.
5. From the NMS Access menu, select Read Only.
6. Click Save.
Note: Perform these steps for every Panduit PDU on which collection needs to
be done.
When the start up is complete, the Systems Configuration Reporter opens in your
default web browser.
2. To save system collection profiles, click Manage multiple collections from the main
page. Click New. You can add system level collection profiles in the following ways:
a. Add a system collection profile manually:
i. Click on Manually create a new collection profile. Enter a name for
the collection profile and the Converged System serial number.
ii. Click Save.
iii. Click the +Component tab of the collection profile name that you just
created.
b. Import a collection profile from a VCE System Configuration File: With the
Systems Configuration Reporter, a system collection profile can be created by
importing a Vblock System configuration file. Importing the configuration file will
create a new collection profile. The VAST .cfg file may not have accurate
credentials as it is created when system was built or shipped.
i. Click Import collection profile from .cfg file.
ii. In the pop-up window, drag and drop the .cfg file and click Import. This
will import all the information available in the .cfg file and create a
collection profile with Converged System serial number with
component profiles under it.
Note: All access profiles may not have all the credentials to do
collection successfully. Go through each profile to make sure
that all component profiles have correct credentials. Correct or
add values to missing required fields. For Converged Systems
without Vision software installed, you can add the system serial
number in the .cfg file, for example:
serialNumber=Vxxxxxxxxxxx.
c. Import a collection profile from the MSM VM: Use this option to import
product component credentials directly from the MSM VM. This import option
pulls information from a live system, thus will import updated credentials. You
must confirm the credentials that were imported under each component.
i. Click Import new collection from remote MSM or Vision Core.
ii. In the pop-up window, enter a hostname and username for the MSM
VM. Accept the host key and provide the virtual machine password.
Click Save.
iii. The Systems Configuration Reporter pulls component information from
the MSM VM. Click Import to save the collection profile.
Note: All access profiles may not have all the credentials to do
collection successfully. Update each profile to make sure that all

When data collection finishes, click Review Findings or click Review Collected Data at top of
the page. Click Manage collections to add or delete collection profiles or start another
collection. This lists all discovered subcomponents by element type and total count from all of
the previous collections. Click each element type to open a table with the attributes for all of the
elements of that type.
Refer to the Dell EMC Vision Intelligent Operations Administration Guide for more information
about search syntax.
Procedure
1. To download data, click Review Collected Data.
2. Click Export Collection Data, and select the report type.
3. To review previous collection by report types:
a. Counts of element types: Provides a simple JSON object of element types
and the count of each.
i. Click Download to save the file on your local drive.
b. CRG export: Exports a Microsoft Excel workbook with CRG sheets
appropriate for the components collected. Check the console logs to get the
status of the exported report.
i. Click Get Started.
ii. Select Yes from the drop-down menu to add scrubbed data to the
report. This will convert some information to asterisks.
iii. Select Yes from the drop-down menu to add health assessment tabs
to the report.
iv. Click Download to save the file to your local drive.
v. To download and email the report, click Download and Email.
c. CMDB export: Use this report for incremental sales of Converged Systems.
i. Select CMDB Milestone from the drop-down menu.
ii. Fill out the information and download the report.
iii. To download and email the report, click Download and Email.
4. To review previous collection by format types:
a. Export element details in a JSON structure: Click Download to save the file on
your local drive.
Closes the application and keeps the collected data and configuration. You can
return to the same configuration and collected data later to do additional collection
from the same set of components and Converged Systems.
Closes the application and deletes the collected data. Saving reports of the collected
data for viewing is recommended. This option allows you to retain the current
configuration without any collected data.
Closes the application and deletes both the saved collection profiles and collected
data. Everything will be deleted including collected data and customer credentials.
This option is recommended when leaving the customer site.

Known issues
Known issues are defects and bugs that exist in the Systems Configuration Reporter.
The development teams are working to resolve these known issues. You can review the known
issues before getting started with the Systems Configuration Reporter tool.
VMAX Collection fails if SYMCLI version Install SYMCLI version equal or greater than
installed on SCR user laptop is older than Element manager installed SYMCLI version on
Customer generated symapi_db.bin file. user laptop where SCR is running.
