proposed. All the modules will be IEC certified (TUV: IEC 61215, IEC 61730, CE, UL 1703).

The solar power plant shall be designed by considering poly silicon technology with high efficiency
modules.

The module frame is anodized aluminum & screw-less.

 Solar Grid Tie Inverter:

Inverter(s) is of extremely high quality having high efficiency &microprocessor controlled type and
are capable of running in individual and parallel mode. Inverter(s) is capable of recording its own
parameters in built in data logger. In addition to above the following features are also available with
the inverter:

o For DC-to-AC energy conversion reliable and efficient solid-state devices.

o The inverter is designed for continuous, reliable and stable power supply.
o In general, the inverter has a high DC to AC conversion Peak efficiency of 98.6%.
o The inverter have automatic rest art facility after over load triggered shut down, when once the
load retains to its set value.
o The Inverter synchronizes the AC power with respective grid and makes it available for
evacuation. When the grid power is not available it stops DC-AC conversion automatically.

Metering
7. Concept
ANNEXURE
7.1 Net Metering Concept
Net metering is a program, offered by some electrical utility companies, that allows you, the solar
power system owner, to connect your system to the utility company’s system and feed any excess
solar energy into the utility distribution system.

Net metering allows residential and commercial customers who generate their own electricity from
solar power to feed electricity they do not use back into the grid. Many states have passed net
metering laws. In other states, utilities may offer net metering programs voluntarily or as a result of
regulatory decisions.

Net metering is a billing mechanism that credits solar energy system owners for the electricity they
add to the grid.
For example, if a residential customer has a PV system on the home's rooftop, it may generate more
electricity than the home uses during daylight hours. If the home is net-metered, the electricity
meter will run backwards to provide a credit against what electricity is consumed at night or other
periods where the home's electricity use exceeds the system's output. Customers are only billed for
their "net" energy use.

Net metering plays a very vital role in India – a country where there is a lot of variation in terms of
available sunlight, usable electricity, distribution channels etc. If India aims to achieve its energy
security by 2022, Net metering is specially crucial. Net metering has been successfully implemented
in places like Delhi, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar,
West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.

As a consumer, the biggest advantage with net metering is the ability to drastically reduce the
electricity bills. This is one of the most important aspects that attract users towards net metering.
Benefits of Net Metering:
1. Financial Credit for Extra Solar Power Produced

Timely Project Delivery with Superior Quality Page | 19

OHMS ENERGY SPV Project Proposal to Rajendra Shiksha Samiti , 24th Spt, 2018

You will receive a credit for your excess solar power at the utility’s going rate for electricity. When
there is not enough electricity from the sun, the utility company will supply your electrical needs. You
will pay only for the difference between the power supplied by the utility and the power produced by
the solar panels. For net metering, a bilateral meter is installed that records the solar power you have
produced and fed back to the grid as well as the power you have used from the utility.

2. No Battery Storage System Needed

With net metering the utility company essentially “stores” your extra solar power for times when you
don’t have enough. This means that you don’t really need an expensive battery bank, unless you
want a small battery backup system for power outages. When you have a grid-tied system like this
your power will go down when the utility power goes down. This is for safety reasons, to protect the
repair crew who are not expecting any power generated in the lines when they go out to repair the
problem.

3. No Backup Generator for when Solar Power is Not Available

Another expensive part of early solar power systems that you won’t need is the backup generator.
Generators are expensive, noisy and need fuel (gasoline, diesel, natural gas or propane). The
electrical utility is there as your backup when solar power is not available.

4. Seasonal Storage – Solar Power Produced in Summer Saves on Winter Costs

One of the frustrations of off-grid systems which are not connected to the utility is that the extra
power in the summer months can’t be stored for the winter. Battery banks typically store power for
only 3-5 days. When the batteries are full there is no way to store the extra energy. But, with net
metering, you are feeding back your power over the summer and you get credited for it in the winter
– now you have seasonal storage.
5. No Maintenance – Solar Power Without Hassles
With net metering, we have now eliminated the batteries and the backup generator – the two
components of a solar power system that require maintenance and have the shortest lifetimes. The
only components you need for a grid-tied net metering system is the solar panels, which produce the
power, and an inverter that converts the DC power from the solar panels to the standard AC power
produced by the utility. Neither of these components requires maintenance. The solar panels, which
have a 25 year warranty, are made from a semiconductor material and usually protected by a
tempered glass front. The inverters, some of which also have 25 year warranties, are solid state and
also maintenance free. A grid-tied net metering system gives you the advantages of producing your
own clean renewable energy without maintenance hassles and with very durable components.

7.2 Do’s and Don’t’s for Solar Power Plant

Do's for Solar Power Plant

Cleaning Monitoring Right Equipment’s
Clean modules periodically Constant Visual Inspection Using appropriate safety equipment
depending on environmental (insulated tools, insulated gloves,
dusty condition etc.) when working on any wiring
Cleaning modules early in Check the terminal/cable Avoid electrical hazards when
morning or late in evening connections quarterly installing, wiring, operating and
maintaining the module
Using Dry cloth to clean Monitor the plant Use only equipment, connectors,
followed by wet mopper (Clean performance whenever wiring and support frames suitable
Water) possible. Contact supplier for use in a solar electric systems
in case of issues.
All electrical contacts should be
kept clean and dry
Pour water in earthling pit twice
a year (Ideally before start of
summer season)
Dont's for Solar Power Plant
Disassemble Avoiding
Do not disconnect/assemble any connection/ Do not Clean the glass surface with chemicals
connector in operation
Do not attempt to disassemble the module, and do Do not let the water stay on glass panels for a
not remove any attached nameplates or long time. This creates a risk of permanent
components damage to the glass, such as white
efflorescence, otherwise known as “glass
disease,” which may cause reduced power
output

Do not leave connectors unplugged for long Do not wear metallic rings, watchbands, ear,
periods of time; dirt may prevent subsequent nose, lip rings or other metallic devices while

In case the system becomes non-operational, Keep away children from the systems as it
