Base.(by Rakesh kumar,16uce087,semester-7 th , , Sec-2 05/08/19 ) locally available Moorum can be used in conjunction with normal stone aggregate (modified up to 50%) and stabilised with cement has a satisfactory engineering property and hence can be used in Road base and sub-base application, which can reduce the future scarcity of natural stone aggregate resources. Gradation of Moorum and aggregate samples used in this study using Indian standard sieve as per Ministry of Road transportation and Highway specifications (MORTH). Modified proctor test was conducted as per IS:2120 (part 8)- 1989 to determine maximum dry density (MDD) and optimum moisture content (OMC). Unconfined compressive strength test was used to determine the compressive strength of the cement treated Moorum aggregate blends using cube specimen as per IS procedures. Blending of Moorum and aggregate was done to meet the requirement of GSB Grading- 2nd for use in cement treated base course (CTB) and filtered layer of sub-base course (CTSB). From different trials, the optimum proportion of Moorum that can be used in base course and sub-base filtered course as closely as GSB Grading-2nd of MORTH was found to be 50% of total weight of aggregates satisfying the grade requirements. As per IRC Sp:8 (2010), the 7 days UCS for cement bond material value should lie between 4.5 to 7MPA for base and 1.5 to 3MPA for sub-base course. So in the present case, the minimum cement content of 4% and 2.5% can be considered for base and sub-base course to meet the requirements specified. for base and sub-base course to meet the requirements specified. After the determination of optimal content of cement , the physical property of blended mix is determined and observed that they are satisfactory as per IRC Specification.
