Ogden Street Jam “Off Wall Ave”

Introduction
“The Tony Hawk Foundation fosters lasting improvements in society with an emphasis on supporting
youth in low-income communities through skateboarding programs and the creation of skateparks” says
Tony Hawk. In other words, the Tony Hawk Foundation serves to embrace community engagement, a safe
place to grow and a sense of belonging. The Tony Hawk Foundation began in 2002 and has raised $9
million to help create public skateparks.

Ogden Street Jam “Off Wall Ave”


The Ogden Street Jam will take place in conjunction with Ogden’s First Friday Art Stroll. There will be a
skateboard deck design contest hosted by Nurture the Creative Mind. Other festivities will be held and
hosted by other local businesses sponsoring the event. The name of the event was derived from similar
events hosted in other towns around the country. This new park is designed to help those in the northern
Utah community by giving them a safe place to be creative.

The Ogden Street Jam will be hosted on June 21, 2020 which is also National Go Skateboarding Day. The
theme for the Ogden Street Jam was created to embrace creativity. Apart from the design contest that will
take place with Nurture the Creative Mind, there will also be music, food and apparel. A DJ from
Lavender Vinyl will play music until 8 p.m. and then a local band will close the night. There will also be
guest appearances from professional athletes in the area such as Tony Hawk himself.

Key Audiences
● Primary Audience: This event will target Ogden City’s youth. This may consist of boys and girls
ages 10 to 18. These are individuals who need a safe space to be creative.

● Secondary Audience: This event will also target adults ages 30 to 50. This audience may be the
parents of the primary audience. It’s important that they see the importance in the event and how
a park would benefit their children and community.

Event Timeline
June 21, 2020

4 p.m. Vendors will be able to set up their booths an hour before the event.
5 p.m. The gates will open and the DJ will start playing music.
6 p.m. The judging for the deck design contest hosted by Nurture the Creative
Mind will take place for about an hour.
7 p.m. A special trick competition hosted by Tony Hawk will start and last about
an hour.
8 p.m. A local band named Hylian will play on a stage on the Union Station’s
fountain plaza for about half an hour.
9 p.m. Visitors will be encouraged to engage in community activities to better the
area they live in by assisting with a cleanup on 25th Street after the
event. Participants will help take down booths and clean up any mess
that has been left behind.
