Audio-visual release form

I grant permission to the University of the Highlands and Islands (a company limited by guarantee
incorporated in Scotland (registered number SC148203) and a registered Scottish charity number SC022228,
and having its registered office at 12B Ness Walk, Inverness IV3 5SQ (“UHI”), its employees, agents and
Academic Partners to record and use audio/visual images or recordings (as defined and described below) of
me or my children (named below) and/or my property for the purpose and according to the conditions set
out below.

Audio/visual images or recordings are any type of recording, including, but not limited to, photographs,
digital images, drawings, renderings, voices, sounds, video recordings, audio clips or accompanying written
descriptions or transcripts.

I am at least 16 years of age and am competent to sign this release. I have read and understood the contents
and the terms of this release before signing.

This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of Scotland and the parties
hereto submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.

Note: Your signature of this document will have certain legal consequences and you are recommended to
take independent legal advice before signing.

UHI Audio-Visual Release (1): General


The University of the Highlands and Islands is free to:

 to use, edit, alter, copy, distribute, display, and exhibit this work in print and electronic form publicly
or privately in any media anywhere in the world (including but not limited to publication on the world
wide web) and in its original format or edited or altered in any way for marketing or educational
purposes; and
 to make derivative works for use for marketing or educational purposes in any media, in its original
format or edited or altered in any way.

Those being recorded agree that:


 any uses described herein may be made without compensation or additional consideration of
themselves.

 UHI may store copies of the Audio/visual image or recording for the purpose specified above and
store my contact details on its database in case it needs to contact me.

 UHI may transfer the Audio/visual image or recording and my contact details to a destination outside
the European Economic Area (“EEA”) or store them at a destination outside the EEA for the permitted
purposes set out above.

Example purposes of recorded materials
The following are examples of purposes to which the University of the Highlands and Islands might put
audio-visual materials. Other purposes may be specified on the release form.

UHI Audio-Visual Release (1): General


 Marketing
 In published materials for public distribution;
 On the University of the Highlands and Islands Web site.
 Educational:
 On the University of the Highlands and Islands e-learning software (for example, the UHI’s
VLE or the e-Learning Web site);
 Training purposes;
 Inclusion in a conference paper or presentation.
Please note: The UHI has two channels on YouTube: UHI TV and Think UHI.

UHI Audio-Visual Release (2): Educational


 Educational purposes only:
 On the University of the Highlands and Islands e-learning software (for example, the UHI’s
VLE or the e-Learning Website);
 Training purposes;
 Inclusion in a conference paper or presentation.

UHI Audio-Visual Release (3): Restricted


Please note: the purpose for which the materials may be released must be specified.
 Marketing
