CHAPTER 1
INTRPDUCTION
Rationale
The ompetition among education institutions (Eis) has increased, these institutions have
competitors and, thereby, attract as many students as possible (Butt and Rehman, 2019). It had
also been explored that schools start realizing that the education and other services they offer
should be considered as a business like other service industries and they should focus on
student’s expectations and pereptions while delivering the service (Malik et al., 2010; Mulu,
2012)
Feedback from students can be used to improve those factors where satisfaction is low
(Douglas et al., 2011) for they are vital in promoting life at the institution and yield an important
impact on school’s standing in global rankings, and because student satisfaction has been found
to be associated with the perceived quality of the institution (Athiyaman, 2010), raising the
level of student satisfaction will improve publi perception with respect to the quality of the
institution.
Student satisfaction is shaped by both the perceived quality of the performance of the
service providers, i.e. the Eduation Institutions and the perceive outcomes of that performance
(Hartman and Schmidt, 2010). In addition, shool failities play an important role in achieving
te goals of the shool by providing students an effective infrastructure as a basis for school
functions for students are more likely to continue in their studies and are more likely to succeed
academically, this results to enhancing the financial position and reputation of the institution
(Karna et al., 2013). Moreover, shool facilities are important factors that influence students’
decision when selecting an Education Institution (Price et a;., 2003), as high quality failities
are found to have major impact on learning (Lewis, 2000, Tanner, 2009).
It is in the above context that the researcher would like to find out if there is aa domain
of school facility such as phyical and mechanil feautures, school safety, educational
appropriateness, bulding suitability, and school site suitability (Wisonsin Department of Public
Instruction, 1999). Thus, the researcher has not come accross with a similar study in the local
setting because of insufficient emperial studies and most researches were conducted abroad.
Therefore, there is an urgency to pursue the study to contribute to existing body of knowledge.
Research Objective
The purpose of the study is to determine the significant relationship between school

Hypothesis
HA: There is significant relationship between school facilities and student satisfaction
This study on school facilities and student satisfaction is a contribution to both private
and public educayion institutions. This is because students’ satisfaction is related to the quality
of facilities in a school whch could help them impove academically. School facilities help
students in seeking an education institution that ould provide a great impact to their learning as
well.
Moreover, this study will be significant to ensure that the facikities of the school can
satisfy the students’ needs and expectations in both public and private sector. Also, this study
on school facilities and student satisfaction may provide helpful contributions ro the following
group of people. This may help the private and private institution in terms of strengthening
their shool facilities for the satisfation of students which ould help ahieving the goals of the
school.
Furthermore, this study will be beneficial to school so that they will be guided on
attracting new students and retaining the old ones. Similarly, this study will be beneficail for it
