Principles of Moral Law
Principles of Moral Law
According to St. Thomas Aquinas, man is naturally capable of understanding the Primary
Principles of Moral Law that refers to “laws that are engraved in our hearts” because all
of these principles reside in in every human. These principles will never be taken away or
removed in one’s heart or even if he/she does not believe in God.
The following are natural inclinations of man based from Douglas McManaman, expert in
Philosophy in Canada.
a. Life – Man should remain the beauty of life because life is good.
b. Truth – Man naturally thinks and seeks for truth.
c. Beauty – Man cares, looks and appreciate the beauty of nature.
d. Ability- Man has the ability to do or create. Abilities must be of help to others.
e. Fellowship – It is important to communicate to others. Man must share his
knowledge to his family and fellowmen.
f. Religion – It is important to man to know about his creation. Man is always curious.
He naturally seeks for truth or bonum universal. A man knows that he cannot know
everything alone but possible with God.
g. Honesty- Man must know the totality of his personality, merging of all good,
beauty, and truth.
