An entropy source based on the tunnel effect can produce, in theory, perfect random strings of bits.

In practice, it is composed of real parts, such as external electrical sources, that present offsets, and
components with material restrictions (measurement devices and wires) which insert noise into the
generated sequence. The result is no longer random, leading to the failure of the random number
generator (RNG).
