Hello this is Jack reporting from the Annual Family Celebration in Quito, Ecuador. People are
having a wonderful time. Most men are cooking a traditional dish called Fanesca. Some women
are playing hide-and-seek with their children. The elderly are listening to old music and telling
stories from the past.
I am here with Mario Velasco, the event organizer, and I want to ask him a couple of questions:

With a new design based on the successful iPad Mini, Apple have relaunched their tablet
computer range with the iPad Air.

The result is a stunning piece of technology that is both a joy to use and powerful enough for most

READING 3.

James David Rodríguez Rubio

He is a Colombian footballer. He was born in Cúcuta on July 12th 1991. He is 1.85 meters tall. His
parents’ names are Wilson James Rodriguez Bedoya and Maria Del Pilar Rubio. Although he was
born in Cúcuta, he grew up in Ibagué. He spent most of his childhood there.

Style of play:

He is a midfielder and a natural playmaker.


Career:

He started his career in 2006 in the Colombian team named “Envigado FC”. Then FC Porto signed
him for 5.1 million euros. He played for FC Porto from 2010 to 2013.

After that James was signed by AS Monaco for 45 million euros, one of the most expensive
transfer fees for a Colombian footballer. On July 22nd 2014 James signed a contract with the

Sights in Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles is one of the biggest cities in the state of California. The city is a very popular tourist
attraction because there is so much to see and do there. First there is the biggest attraction of all:
the ocean! Los Angeles is only minutes away from the beautiful beaches on the coast of the Pacific
Ocean. Because of this, surfing and other water sports are very common there. Another popular
sight is Hollywood and the walk of fame. This star covered sidewalk shows the names of hundreds
of popular actors, actresses, musicians, and more. Many people visiting the city walk up and down
the sidewalk in search of their favorite star. There are even bus tours the visitors can go on to see
the homes of the famous people who live in Los Angeles.

READING 5.

Nelson Mandela biography

Nelson Mandela was a South African activist and politician, who was convicted to life in prison in
1962 for trying to overthrow the apartheid government. He got out of prison in 1990 after
apartheid ended. Mandela used his popularity and charisma to become President of South Africa
from 1994 to 1999.

After his presidency, Nelson Mandela continued to fight for equality and justice. Even retirement
couldn’t stop Mandela from speaking his mind to people all over the world.

He became a popular speaker who toured the world, inspiring people with his message. Nelson
Mandela received many awards during his life, including the Nobel Peace Prize and the
Presidential Medal of Freedom. He fathered six children during his life. He passed away on
December 5, 2013 at the age of 95.

Movie review: San Andreas

The blockbuster “San Andreas” made its worldwide debut on May 25, 2015. The movie was
released in 2D and 3D formats. The story of San Andreas was written by Jerry Passmore, Carlton
Cuse and Andre Fabrizio, and was directed by Brad Peyton. Filmed on location in Australia, Los
Angeles, Bakersfield and San Francisco, San Andreas follows the tale of a helicopter rescue pilot
named Raymond Gaines as he makes his way to San Francisco to find his daughter in the
aftermath of a major earthquake.

Stars of the thrilling movie include Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Gaines, Carla Gugino as his wife
Emma, Alexandra Daddario as his daughter Blake and Paul Giamatti as Dr. Lawrence Hayes. Pop
singer Kylie Minogue also appears in the movie, as Susan Riddick.
