can draw lots of animals. He uses the shapes to help
him. What animal do you think he is going to draw?
(Page 14) David is very good at art. He can draw
different animals with different shapes. David shows
Mary how to draw a dog. “You can use circles,
triangles, and ovals,” he says. Look at David’s
drawing. How many circles and triangles can you see?
(Page 16) Now David shows Mary how to draw a
farmer. “You can use rectangles and diamonds,” he
says. He draws a farmer with a bucket and spade.
Can you see the rectangles and the diamonds in the
drawing? How many can you see?
(Page 18) “Now it’s your turn. Try and draw a cat,”
says David. “You can use ovals and triangles.” Mary
picks up her pencil. She draws some shapes. She
draws a cat with a happy face. Mary is smiling. Can
you draw a cat with ovals and triangles?
(Page 20) Now Mary can draw all on her own. She is
very happy. She draws a picture of a beautiful farm.
On Mary’s farm, there are cows and horses. What
other animals can you see on her farm?
(Page 22) Mary gets a good grade for art today. She
is a very happy girl. She wants to tell her mother and
father about her drawing. Mary likes art now, and
she loves art class on Tuesday mornings. David is her
favorite friend. Do you like art class?
