Introduction

Purpose of this Guide

The purpose of this guide is to describe the functionality of Insight Translations tool.

Intended Audience
This document is intended to provide a general translation procedure for users who are responsible for translating the Insight Business Intel-
ligence solutions.

Translations - An Overview

The Insight solutions can be used by users from different locales to generate dashboards and reports. The Insight Translations tool provides a
framework to support the translation requirements for international deployments of Insight applications. Translation of Insight is the process
of adapting Insight for a particular country or region. Insight Translations View enables Insight to support the character set of a user’s locale,
and display report data that is appropriate to the locale for most of the OOB Reports.

Which resources can the user translate?

A user can translate the following types of resources:

l Column names in reports

l Labels in reports

l Insight Vision application’s Menu items and Group names.

Insight Translations
Insight Translations is a dictionary of object names and labels. It works by allowing users to change the labels on reports for the columns in
the data model, as well as other common objects in the reports. Almost everything in a report can be translated using this functionality. This
can be used to format a column name in the same language as well as to translate it to a different language. A common use case would be to for-
mat NationalIdentityNum as National Identity Num or to translate it to Social Security Num or Social Insurance Num.

How translated items are managed?

The Insight Translations tool integrates only the changes:

 l That have been added by the translator with the Translation tool (the change is added to the resource)

l That have been modified by the translator with the Translation tool (the change is updated if there are no syn-
chronization issues)

Translating Report Columns and Labels

The dictionary of object names that are to be translated is stored in the Translation table in Master Data. To add a translation, a new record
has to be added as follows:

To change an existing translation, edit the value in the “DisplayName” column as necessary.

Translating Menus in Insight

Insight Main Menu headings and Groups can be renamed or translated using Insight Publisher’s Setup Dashboard option.

To Rename or Translate,

l Open the Insight Explorer application.

l Select the Publisher option from the Application dropdown menu

l Click on the Company (for example : BNK in the above image) option to open the list of dashboard options.

l Click on the Insight Menu item

l The Dashboard Setup Details dialog is displayed.

l Double-click on the required Menu Heading and/or the Group to be renamed or translated.

l On clicking, the Description field is loaded with the existing name.

l Edit or translate the description.

l Click on the Update button to save changes.

l If the name exceeds the maximum length, an error message is displayed
