Guidelines for Music Ministry Team (MMT)

I. DEFINITION

The MMT is one ministry of Worship & Fellowship Committee which purpose is to usher the congregation to
worship God through songs and music during Sunday services and other fellowships.

II. OBJECTIVES

The three (3) objectives of MMT are:

1) PERSONAL HOLINESS OF EACH MEMBER


To learn to practice personal spiritual disciplines for the enhancement of an evident personal
worship manifested through the use of his physical body base on Romans 12:1
2) ACCOUNTABILITY TO THE TEAM
To be accountable to other members for their spiritual growth under an accountability group
(See Accountability Group).
3) PASSIONATE WORSHIP OF THE CHURCH
To help create a passionate environment of worship expresses though songs during Sunday
services and other fellowships.

III. MAIN RESPONSIBILITY

The following MMT responsibility is carefully stated to make sure that its three (3) objectives must be
clearly realized:

1) To help each member to growth spiritually.


2) To make sure an organized and creative expression of worship during Sunday service and other
fellowships.
3) Responsible for the safekeeping, cleanliness, orderliness and inventory of the church’ musical
instruments and other materials entrusted to the team.
4) To make and submit a proposed Plan for the Year which include:
a) Programs and strategy to make sure that the Three (3) objectives are being achieved.
b) Proposed Trainings and seminars for the members of the team
c) Target numbers of new members added to the team
d) Evangelism program and target of new converts added to the church.

IV. MEMBERSHIP

Members of this team should demonstrate faithfulness and sacrificial commitment to carry out the
three (3) objectives for which the following members’ responsibility, guidelines for qualifications,
discipline and disqualifications are clearly stated:

A. RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH MEMBER

1) Each member should practice spiritual discipline:


a) Personal devotion to the Word
b) Regular personal Prayer time
c) Actively attend and participate in an Accountability Group
d) Intentional Evangelism to his friends
2) Each member must show good testimony:
a) Time: arrive before the agreed time.
b) Task: must be diligent and responsible on the assigned task to provide a quality output or
result.
c) Teacheability: should humble and submit to the leadership of the team
d) Team Work: must help unify the team to carry out its objectives and facilitate harmonious
relationship with the other team members.

B. QUALIFICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP


The main qualification to be a member of the team is the heart for worship and the desire for personal
spiritual growth manifested by the following:
1. Must finish through the follow-up 1 to 6 of the NLTC.
2. Must submit to baptism (12 yrs old and above) as a public declaration of faith.
3. Must be a member and faithfully attending an Accountability group for atleast not less than 3 months.
4. Must demonstrate a maturing spiritual life and a good example of the maturing faith.

C. DISCIPLINE & DISQUALIFICATION OF MEMBERSHIP


The purpose of disciplining and disqualification is 1) to restore the member as good example of the
faith. And 2) So that the objectives of the team will not be hampered 3) to serve as warning to other
members to evade from the same acts:

1. GROUNDS FOR DISCIPLINING

a) An attitude of lack of commitment which evidences are usual:


i. tardiness within an scheduled time
ii. failure to deliver expected result of its task or assignment
b) Unforgiving spirit and non-submission to the leadership
c) Practice gossiping or who discredits someone in the team that result division or disunity or
quarreling.
d) Practice lying, cheating, stealing and unwholesome talks.
e) Failure to follow the example on Matthew 18:15-20 when dealing with other members’ offense.
f) Solicitation of funds for a certain project or program without a written approval from the BOD.
g) Association with the people who practice those sin mentioned in 1 Corinthians 5:11 & 6:9-10

2. DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS (DA)

DA#1. WARNING & PUBLIC CONFESSION AFTER CONFRONTATION

a) Public confession must be done by a member who committed any of the “Grounds for
Disciplining”. Confession must be done during the team meeting after confrontation. Such member
must do the following:
i. Affirming of his/her wrongdoings or faults or negligence.
ii. Asking forgiveness of his/her wrongdoings or faults or negligence before the team.
iii. Assuring the team that he will not do the same acts.
b) The Team should express assurance of forgiveness after the confession. Thereafter, the leader
should lead a prayer thanking God for the demonstration of humility of the person and that the
enemy can never use the offense against the ministry of the team.
c) Warnings are valid within a period of six 6 months. Within that period, a demonstration of
restitution by the person must be visible by abiding to the provided “Responsibility of each
member”.

DA#2. SUSPENSION OF MEMBER

Any member of the team must be disciplined by suspension when:


a) Failure to demonstrate humility when confronted (May also result to disqualification)
b) After three (3) series of warnings for any of, or combinations of any of the ”Grounds for
Disciplining”, or any of the single ground depending on the gravity of the result. (Warnings are
valid within a period of six 6 months and with a visible demonstration of restitution of the person
under DA)

DA#3 DISQUALIFICATION OF MEMBER (Removal as team member)


a) Failure to submit to disciplining
b) Without a sign of repentance and humility during the period of suspension.
c) Stop attending his/her Accountability Group for a period of 3 months.
d) Involve in a special relationship (boyfriend/girlfriend/”special friend more than a friend”) with
someone unless a fiancé (which wedding preparation is only within of 1 year).
e) Engaging in premarital sex or any person who practice the sin mentioned in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
such as sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, prostitutes, any act of homosexuality, thieves,
greedy, drunkards, slanderers & swindlers.
3. PROCESS OF DISCIPLINING AND DISQUALIFICATION
STEP 1: Confrontation
Follow Matthew 18:15-20
 First, private confrontation only between the involve persons.
 If he/she didn’t listen to private confrontation, then a confrontation with
two other witnesses should be done including the team leader who both
will serve as judges for the matter.
 If he didn’t listen matter should be brought to the leaders of the church.
STEP 2: Statement of Disciplinary Action base in this guidelines
The team leader must discuss to the person the necessary disciplinary action.
STEP 3: Public Confession
A confession by the person must be done during a formal meeting before the team members.
He/she must do the following:
a) Affirm his/her wrongdoings or faults or negligence and the grounds he violated.
b) Ask forgiveness for his/her wrongdoings or faults or negligence to those he/she offended
and to the team.
c) Assure the team that he will not do the same acts again
d) Acknowledge with humility that he/she is willingly to submit to a disciplinary action and
he will demonstrate humility before the team.
STEP 4: Forgiveness & Prayer
The Team should express assurance of forgiveness and help for restitution of the person after the
confession. Thereafter, the leader should lead a prayer thanking God for the demonstration of
humility of the person and that the enemy can never use the offense against the person and the
ministry of the team.

STEP 5: Demonstrate humility


Any member under suspension must be:
a. Temporary suspended to lead in the front during Sunday service and other fellowships
including activities outside the church for a period of Three (3) to six (6) months and
until a demonstration of restitution is visible to the person by abiding to the
“Responsibility of each member”.
b. He/she must continually attend other activities during his/her suspension period to
demonstrate humility and submission to disciplinary action.

V. AMMENDMENTS
All provisions in these guidelines must be evaluated in the light of the Word of God. Suggestion for
revision may be brought out immediately after such evaluation.
