BRIGHT AND LIGHT define the audiotorium
-transparency is a major theme,
large glass areas allow passerby to
see books and activity inside. GREEN ROOF SAGE GLASS
-the green roof deck is a gathering -electroninc glass can change from
place for events clear to opaque, offering interior
control for any kind of event.

A COMMUNITY GATHERS
-an urban plaza on the north side
connects the library to the park
CONSISTENT CONNECTIONS
accross the street.
-the system for the ACM panels on the
audiotorium and the cement composite
panels on the rest of the library were the
same, making installation efficient.

INTENT: Give building occupants a connection to the natural outdoor environment by providing quality views.

For inpatient units (IPUs), achieve direct line of sight to the outdoors via vision glazing for 75% of regularly occupied floor
area. View glazing in the contributing area must provide a clear image of the exterior. Also, 75% of all regularly occupied
floor area must have at least two of the following four kinds of views (1 point):
• multiple lines of sight to vision glazing in different directions at least 90 degrees apart;
• at least two views: (1) flora, fauna, or sky; (2) movement; (3) objects min 25 ft (7.5 m) from the exterior of the glazing
• unobstructed views located within the distance of three times the head height of the vision glazing; and
• views with a view factor of 3 or greater, as defined in “Windows and Offices; A Study of Office Worker Performance and
the Indoor Environment.”
For other areas, configure the building floor plates such that the floor area within 15 feet (4.5meters) of the perimeter ex-
ceeds the perimeter area requirement (Table 1), and meet the requirements above for the perimeter area (1 point).
