Elder Brother you must understand the difficulty of this task?

Our records of the world beyond the

stars or “Earth” are limited as our only source of information are those called by the grand
summoning. Our Brotherhood has conducted the ritual 33 times summoning 49 individuals in total.

Thus our knowledge of Earth is only what we can infer from observations and interviews of only 49
people most separated by vast amounts of time and space. More over the last time the summoning was
conducted was 197 years ago (or 155 years as they would mark the time). Many of the heroes
summoned shared a similar psychological profile but they were also shaped by their societies. I can
offer only unfounded speculation on what sort of societies exist on Earth at this time.

Transmigration - 1.1

Kurosawa Ayako got up well before her alarm rang. It was rare for her to need it but she kept it set
anyway, it made her feel like every day started with a small victory. She had intended to get up earlier
but it took her a moment to recall why through the early morning haze.

“Ichinose and Nishimura have class duty today. Kiyomaki High had a surfeit of clubs but few dedicated
clubrooms. As a result most clubs met in regular classrooms and all to often the students would not
leave those classrooms as they found them. The school opted to deal with this by having the students
on duty for their class come in early to make sure the classroom was tidied up alongside running the
usual errands. Of course in this case it meant Ichinose was being thrown to the wolves first thing in the
morning.

It probably wouldn't be a problem but she wanted to be on hand if Ichinose needed to be bailed out. It
wasn't enough cause to rush out the door, instead she went meticulously through her morning routine
washing her face, brushing her teeth, applying some basic skincare products and running the brush
from her hair the necessary number of times. Some of the girls in the class had more elaborate beauty
routines, but Ayako was interested in keeping up appearances not attracting attention.

When that was done she took a moment to look herself over in the mirror. Dark eyes gazed out from
behind glasses with thin metal rims, dark hair that reached her shoulders, her classmates always said
she looked better when she smiled but it always looked of to her when she tried in the mirror. Judging
herself ready to face the world Ayako headed downstairs.

No one else was up, which meant her mother had come home from work late and her father had slept at
the office. She made scrambled eggs, orange juice, and toast for herself, and then took the time to make
a simple bento of rice, mixed vegetable and hot-dogs that opted not to slice into the “octopus” shape
more commonly seen. The she made two eggs sunny side up and put two more slices of bread in the
toaster and went upstairs to wake her mother.

“Mom, it's time to wake up. You'll be late if you don't get up now.” She rapped on the door again. “I
made breakfast.” That elicited something like a groan of acknowledgment. She returned to her room to
change into her uniform, she packed her bag made one last check at the mirror. The uniform of
Kiyomaki High was in Ayako's opinion a decade or more out of date, still using the traditional
serafuku/gakuran pattern. Wearing the cardigan improved matters a bit but only by so much. Deeming
herself ready to face the world she walked downstairs to find her mom eating breakfast.

“Good Morning”
“Good Moring, and thanks for making breakfast.” her mother said still sounding a little groggy “You're
already all dressed so early in the morning?”

“I need to help out someone in my class with something.”

Her mother sighed. “I need to tell your father to stop working so late, it feels like we barely see each
other these days.”

“These things happen, we all have busy schedules you and dad especially. Sometimes those schedules
don't overlap.”

“We're a family we should be able to make time to spend together.” she paused for a second. “This
weekend we ought to do something as a family see a move, maybe go to that new family restaurant that
opened up.”

“Sure, that sounds nice.” If her mom wanted to see more of her she wasn't going to object but Ayako
didn't resent her parents for focusing on their own priorities. She even took a small amount of pride in
how her independence and maturity allowed them to do so.

“I need to head out or I'll miss the train.”

“Have a safe trip” her mother replied.

Ayako stepped out the door ready to face whatever the world could throw at her

<><><><>

There was a moment.

Weightless

Senseless

Timeless

Then the world was there, a different world than Ayako remembered. She could last recall being in the
classroom at her desk, now that desk rested on a platform of black stone. In of the classroom was the
summit of a tall hill, with the snowy landscape unfolding all around her devoid of signs of habitation.
The air was crisp and full of the scents of winter, a fragile silence filled the air. Looking around she saw
the she was not alone, most of the class was here many of them at their desks as well and a few still on
their feet.

It was hard to focus enough to get a headcount or further survey the situation, a sense was encroaching
at the edge of her mind. If felt like she was hearing colors, coldness, and a full body sense of
disorientation. Information was pouring in that she couldn't associate with any of her five senses,
worlds of harmonic shapes and iridescent sounds that were also thought and feelings.

There was too much information and not enough Ayako to handle it. One of those worlds, one of those
minds stood out, she tried to focus on that and shut out everything else. In a sea of confusion and quiet
panic it was focused, curious, and more concerned than afraid. She could feel idea flowing, assembling
into chains of logic, even if she could not put those ideas into words or understand them. The she felt a
sudden spike of pain, the growing edifice of understanding collapse.

“Reina-chan!” someone screamed.

Her mind retreated from the pain, back to the sea of panic that now seized her heart in an iron grip and
threatened to overwhelm her mind. Desperate she pushed outward trying to force away the tide of fear
that was drowning her. The force of the push sent her own head spinning, then as though a switch in her
mind had flipped open the worlds of color and sound and feelings and thoughts were gone.

Her head clear for the first time she was able to take stock. The focus of the commotion was Nishimura
who was slumped over half supported by her desk and half supported by Haruko with Tsuda fussing
over her as well. A quick head count gave her sixteen classmates with Omuro, Nanami, Hatoya, and
Tokura missing. That made sense to a certain extent. She could remember taking note of each student
as they entered the classroom and she didn't recall seeing any of them.

“Well that was certainly something but perhaps we could settle down and refrain from using those new
extra skills for the time being.” Her gaze snapped to the source of the voice as she belatedly realized
that it was not only her classmates on the hill. The girl who had spoken was dark skinned with snowy
white hair. She wore a brown hooded cloak and black robes embroidered with golden thread. She
stepped passed Ayako to put a hand on Nishimura's head.

“Your friend should be fine.” she said to Haruko. “It's just mental fatigue, though what she was doing
that would exhaust her so quickly is beyond me”

Ayako had understood her so easily that only now was she realizing that the she was not speaking
Japanese. Yet still she understood the language even though she was certain that she had never heard it
in her life. No one else had spoken up, looking around it seemed like many of the students were oddly
dazed. It feel to her then, as Class Representative she had to take charge of the situation even if the
situation was utterly insane. She opened her mouth to speak in the necessary words were there even
though she was sure she had never leaned them.

“What happened exactly? The last thing I can remember is all of us in the classroom, Ikeda and
Nishimura were arguing.” As she remembered what they were arguing about a flare of irritation went
off in her head. This couldn't be happening.

“You have been summoned from beyond the stars to aid the people of Nazokesh in their hour of need.”
she said with no trace of irony.

“I refuse.”

“What!” The girl seemed even more shocked than she was

“I refuse to take part in this cliched scenario, send me back.”

The girl turned to glare at a man in grey robes “Saja, you said the heroes would intuitively understand
the purpose the summoning, you said that compliance would not be a factor.” Her voice was almost a
growl.

The man seemed to be in his early thirties, well built and clean shaven with short dark hair. “The
Celestials send trials into every life.” he said. “Some have had rocky beginnings but the heroes that
were summoned in the past all found their path once the situation was sufficiently explained to them.”

“I can guess at the situation. You're going to ask us to do something unreasonable like fight an army of
demons despite the fact that we are high school students. The answer is no.”

The girl seemed at a loss for words.

“She doesn't speak for all of us, if this world needs saving then I'm in.” It seemed that the worst
possible person had been the first to come to his senses. Sasaki Kazuto stood from his desk, his dark
hair in disarray his eyes fixed on the girl. His face was more serious than she had seen it before but
only someone who had never grown beyond middle school would jump at this kind of scenario.

“This isn't a game, this isn't an anime, even you aren't that dumb to think being an otaku qualifies you
to save the world”

The man in grey 'Saja' spoke again. “The fact that you were summoned qualifies both of you, surely
you have noticed that you are more that what you were before? The skill that you used nearly knocked
lady Ly'christem off her feet and that is no small thing.”

The girl, Ly'christem glared at the man in grey. “I didn't expect one of them to launch a mental attack
within minutes of being summoned”

Haruko looked up from Nishimura's unconscious form. “Um, I understand that the fate of the world is
very important but I can't help but notice it's snowing out and I think we left our coats on another
planet. I know you said Reina would be fine but it I can't imagine the cold would be good for someone
who is unconscious.”

Ly'christem stopped in her tracks. “That is a bit of a problem. I expected a single individual, I never
even imagined the spell would summon more than five people. There's no precedent for it. Perhaps
before we make any commitments we should avoid anyone freezing to death.” She cupped her hands
and then opened them. A glyph of orange light burst into existence between her palms and wave of
warmth pulsed outward banishing the chill.

A worrying possibility occurred to Ayako at that moment. “You summoned us here, surely you can send
us back?”

Ly'christem gave a harsh bitter laugh. “If there was a spell that could ferry one away form Nazokesh no
one would stay.”

Saja almost cut her off as he spoke. “Do not be disheartened, all things are possible if one has faith. If
you are absolutely committed to returning to your home a way might be found through the grace of the
Celestials. We who server them are but humans and prone to error and so any remedy from us shall
require time.

Ly'christem gave Saja a look that did not improve Ayako's assessment of the situation. “Well even if
this group was cooperative there's no way we'd get through any of the city gates without attracting
attention and even getting there would be a huge hassle given how under dressed they are. I'm sending
a wind messenger to Novaus Urabrem to request extraction by Gryphon Knight.”
