A Detailed Lesson Plan in

English Grammar

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the1-hour lesson, students with 85% mastery, will be able to:
a). identify the five most common pairs of correlative conjunctions;
c). construct sentences containing correlative conjunctions; and
d). write a paragraph about their idea about the fun weekend using correlative
conjunctions

around your area and arrange your chair’s

“Yesterday, we have discussed one of the part


of speech which is the conjunction. Again,
what is conjunction?”

“Ma’am conjunction are joining words.”

“Nice answer. So what are the types of


conjunction?”
“There are three types of conjunctions, these
are the coordinating, subordinating and
correlative conjunctions.”
“Excellent answer”

“Do you have any questions regarding to our


lesson yesterday?”
“None, Ma’am.”
“If that so, let’s start our next lesson.”

Title: Rebus Puzzle
“In this activity, I need two groups.Each
group will be given a set of pictures. Each
group will construct a sentence using the
pictures. Take note there is a timer and each
group is given a minute to identify the
pictures.”
1. She is both intelligent and beautiful.
2. I will either go for a hike or stay home and watch TV.
3. Jerry is neither rich nor famous.
4. He is not only intelligent, but also very funny.
5. Would you rather go shopping or spend the day at the beach?

Did the first group create a correct sentence?”
“Yes, Ma’am!”

“Very good! How about the second group?”

“I think they are very creative in constructing


their sentences.”

“Great! Based from our activity, what have


you observed?”
“There are two different pictures that is
connected to each other.”
“Aside from that, what else?”

“The two pictures are contrasting each other.”

“Now, let’s try to create a simple sentence out


of the first picture.”
“ She is both intelligent and beautiful”

“How about on the second picture?”

“I will either go for a hike or stay home and


watch TV.”

“Very good! Based from your prior


knowledge about sentences, what are the parts
of sentence that are present in the sentences
you created?”

“It has a subject and a predicate.”

“What have you observed from the


sentences?”

“The sentences have the conjunctions”

conjunction? ”

“Ma’am correlative conjunctions are


connecting words.”

“You have a point, thank you for your


answer. Correlative conjunctions are
conjunctions that function as separable
compounds, occurring in pairs, and have
corresponding meanings.”

“So now let’s identify what are the possible


pair of words that correlative conjunctions
can connect”

“Class are you ready?”

“ Yes, Ma’am”

“ Before we proceed, let’s find out what are


the correlative conjunctions.
(Both, and), (neither, nor), (whether, or),
(either, or), ( not only, but also).”

“It is clear class?”


“Yes, Ma’am.”

“ So let’s proceed to our discussion,


Connecting nouns: He opened both his
present and her present.
Connecting pronouns: Either you or I will be
lead runner.
Connecting verbs: The sick python would
neither eat nor drink.
Connecting prepositional phrases: He will
keep the appointment whether at one or at
two, he couldn’t say.
Connecting two sentences: Not only is Lila a
talented artist, but she is also a fine writer.
“Do you have any question class?
Clarification? Do you understand?”

“Yes, Ma’am.”
“If that so, can you give me examples?”

“At the party, Jen served both hamburgers


and hot dogs.”
“Thank you for that. Another example?”

“The house was neither attractive nor


affordable.”

paragraph about their idea about the fun
