II. BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Adobe Photoshop is the premier photo editing software tool available. Whether you are

be used to enhance your images.

In this laboratory activity, you will learn to choose and use the best techniques for common
Photoshop jobs including image file types, cropping images, compositing (putting several
images together), ghosting images (to be used as backgrounds), using layers, creating masks,
applying filters, formatting text with bevels improving images with retouching and effects.

III. LABORATORY ACTIVITY

Create a movie poster or a book cover. The idea is that your creation shouldn't look out of
place in a movie theater or a book store. Just take the name and the theme of a book or a
movie that you like, and make a poster or a cover for it.

1. Start Adobe Photoshop. Create a new, empty picture. It should be 800 pixels high and
550 pixels wide.
2. Copy a picture that you want to use from the net and paste them into your new picture,
erase what you don't need, and work with the rest until it looks the way you want it.
3. Save your file as LastnameFirstname_exer07.psd.

Below are sample outputs of this exercise. Your poster or cover doesn't have to look like
these, but they might give you some inspiration or ideas.
