Leyla Lancaster months ago. It was an exquisite corpse writing group: every day you'd write
another part of a different story. The characters that evolved out of it included a
Greg Brislain fired film director, some aliens, a disaffected comic book sidekick penguin and
the devoted follower of a guru. Over what felt like a million story drafts,
Washington Law Office eventually we figured out that this story about Julia was about our feelings about
storytelling as a group, about collaborating with lots of people in the little
The Bookstore Butcher Shop utopia that we create every year for labor day. The idea behind
this utopia is to take a bunch of garbage (literally), paint it, turn it into art for one
Bootleg weekend, and then send it back to the landfill. Thanks especially to the hundred
people who learn lines, write songs, make costumes, paint murals, construct
Mary Ann & Dennis Latimer puppets, raise money, and practice like crazy to put this show on. But the
ephemeral utopia wouldn't be complete without the audience. Thanks for
Ken Roye coming to see our work.
