The lesson plan aims to teach Grade 4 students about computer systems and their working cycles by explaining the different parts of a computer including input devices like keyboards and mice, processing devices like the CPU, output devices like monitors and printers, and storage devices like RAM, ROM, hard disks, and USB drives over two 30 minute sessions. The lesson includes examples, activities identifying devices, and a plenary session asking students to define and list examples of input, output, and storage devices as well as parts of the CPU.

Lesson Learning Objective: By the end of the lesson you will:
The student will be able to know
Computer System and its working Cycle
Parts of a computer o Input devices o Processing device o Output devices o Storage devices
Starter: Time: 5-10 Minutes Stretch for higher ability students:
Example 1: how the fruit tree grows from a seed. List down more input and output devices Ask various steps involved. E.g. water and sunshine are the input and the fruit is the output. Example 2: Show the students a calculator. Ask its function. Demonstrate by adding two numbers i.e. 2+3=5
Relate these with Input and Output devices of computers
Main Activity: Time: 60 Minutes
Introduction to Support for weaker students:
1. Input devices Focus more on each part/sections of the chapter to make sure they Mouse understand everything and then move on to the next sections. Keyboard Microphone etc. 2. Processing device Central Processing Unit (CPU) 3. Output devices Monitor Speaker Printer etc. 4. Storage devices Internal memory i. Read Only Memory (ROM) ii. Random Access Memory (RAM) External/Portable memory i. CD/DVD ii. USB Flash Drive iii. Hard disk
Split into 2 Sessions of 30 Minutes
Session 1: Input and Processing devices Session 2: Output and Storage devices
Plenary: Time: 10-15 Minutes
What is an input device? List any 3 input devices What is an output device? List any 3 output devices What is a storage device? List any 3 storage devices What is CPU? List out the parts Resources / equipment needed: Projector or Smart Board
