Our School has got a choir: it’s formed
by primary and secondary school
pupils.
Our music teacher Simona teaches us
a lot of songs; she also teaches us
how to play flute and percussion
instruments. Now we are in 4th class
and we’re beginning to try other
instruments such as piano, clarinet
and violin. .
This musical project allowed us to learn
many beautiful songs for Christmas,
Mother’s Day, Women’s Day and so on
Every year we also participate to an
important musical festival called
“Feniarco” in the city of Montecatini (in
Tuscany). This is the most important
festival dedicated to the school
choirs: it’s a formation and friendship
experience.
There are choirs from all over Italy and abroad
and the repertoire is enriched by a multiplicity
of genres and exciting performances.
Every day there are concerts and ateliers
(with a great involvement of the singers
and the audience). We have been working
hard for three days but, at the end, we
have been very happy, especially for the
final concert at the theatre. We hope to
return there next year because it has been
fantastic!

Our school library belongs to the
Panhellinic Network of School Libraries
this year and it has been enriched with
new books, a computer, a printer
and a projector. We were asked to find a
name and a logo for the library, so we
organized a competition at school. There
were many names proposed by the
students and finally we gave it the name
“Melody of books”. We also made a poster
with the logo “With letters I fly and on the
ground I shine”. The library room, however,
is small and it is a music room at the same
time. So, to put away our books, we had to
place them in boxes, which we painted and
numbered according to the category they
belonged to. There are books of Greek and
foreign literature, encyclopedias, poetry,
educational, music, sports books etc. The
books got a code and a card, so that we
find them more easily and know who
borrowed them and for how long. Anyone,
who wants to borrow a book, is given a books.

One of the Finnish traditional celebrations is midsummer. Midsummer is the celebration of light and at midsummer we lit up
a bonfire and then we watch it blaze. The bravest people usually go for a swim even though the water is cold.

In Finland we have a lot of traditional
foods, for example Karelian stew, Karelian
pie, mämmi and liver casselore. Everyone,
however, doesn’t like some of these foods,
so don’t worry, you aren’t forced to eat
them.

Eating mämmi is a very traditional thing

for us Finns, mämmi is a food made of rye
and usually people pour milk or cream on
top of it. Mämmi might look pretty weird,
but you can still eat it. Salty licorice is also
a traditional food / candy. Salty licorice
tastes a bit strong and it’s a thing everyone
definitely doesn’t like it. In Finland we have
traditional foods like karjalanpaisti,
karelian pie, mämmi & liver casserole.

This year we realized the Art
Attack Project: we knew painters
and we created works inspired by
their artistic production. During
the Christmas holidays we
organized an exhibition and we
showed our works. We also
followed photography lessons
and we made beautiful images.
We also visited the Marc Chagall
exhibition and we enjoyed it very

WE RECYCLE
In our school we do laboratory activities on Monday afternoon. We create new things
with recycled materials like buttons, cork, fabrics, wool, plastic, pasta and paper.

Every year before Christmas, each

students in four groups. Each group
is composed by pupils of different
classes and they work together to
make Christmas decorations or
handmade products. The oldest kids
help the youngest and we create an
interesting project about

We made those thing by easy and

THE NAUTICAL CLUB OF KASTORIA: that they can have a future with promises for great success. During its operation for

also at Olympic Games, World and Balkan Championships.
The Nautical Club of Kastoria serves the
children of the town for decades,

I woke up at 7:30, brushed my teeth and put on my clothes. For breakfast I had
cereal, a mandarin and I drank some milk. Then at 8:15 my friend Minja came to
see me. We played on our phones for a while and then we left to school at 8:45

on foot. Our school day lasted for 4 hours, so it ended at 13:30. We had maths,
finnish, crafts and music. In the afternoon I ate some bread and a banana for a
snack. Then I rested for a bit, emptied our dishwasher and did my homework.

After all that I played with legos and
then I went to see my friend Ronja at
15:30. At Ronja’s house we played in a
pile of snow but soon I had to go back
home for dinner. For dinner we had
handmade meatballs, mashed sweet
potato and cucumber. After dinner I
continued playing with the legos
again. Next was evening snack. I had
bread, an apple and cocoa. Then I had
a shower and brushed my teeth. After
that I went to bed at 20:00. My mom
read me a story and that was when I
fell asleep.

home I did my homework. My grandma
picked me up at 15:00. I went to hers

15:30. For dinner we had chicken and

Usva. We also went to McDonalds and
I got a milkshake. Me and Usva had a
sleepover at my grandmas. When my
grandpa came home from work, we
went fishing and to the activity park
