1.0 Introduction

1.1 Description and function of

Component

The screw bearing puller is a tool used for

removing bearings installed on a shaft. Its main
components are forcing screw, cross arm and
claws. The forcing screw is the long, half threaded
shaft, the cross arm attaches the claws to the
forcing screw and the claw is mounted with a to
the cross head this allows the internal and
external pull of the bearing, and these
components are depicted in figure 1.0. The press The forcing screw can removed from the cross
fit operation is too complex for most machine arms and placed
assembly to align, thus this tool can be widely
used and effectively remove the bearing. Bearing
are manufactured to utmost tolerance and have
fine surface finishes thus they require large force
to install and remove them from shaft.

1.2 Description of Operational

Conditions & Loading

This bearing puller uses a principle of power

screws. Power screw is used to convert rotary into
linear motion. Power screws can obtain high
mechanical advantage in order to move large
loads with minimum effort, to generate large
forces and obtain precise axial movement.
The forcing screw sits against the center of the
shaft. It pushes against a shaft while the legs pull
and remove the bearing.

The claw legs sit on the outside of the bearing that

is going to be removed.
