DEEPA MALIK- INDIA’S FIRST 


SILVER MEDALIST 
Deepa Malik, known for India’s first woman to win a medal in the
Paralympics born on 30th Sept.​ ​1970 in Haryana.

Not only a silver medal she is also awarded with Arjuna award in 2016
and Padma Shri award in 2017.

Deepa Malik has participated in 3 sports which are shot put, javelin
throw and discus throw and was selected for shot put in the 2016
Summer Paralympics and also won a silver medal. Excluding this, she
has won 51 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 2 bronze medals at the
national level.
She has also won 23 international medals. Her ​achievements​ are
beyond anyone’s thinking and she is also known as the oldest person
who has received the Arjuna award at the age of 42 and became the
oldest ever active Arjuna award player in the country.

Before this age, sportsperson retires but she made records and
became one of the most awarded sportsperson in India.

Motorsport 
Deepa Malik is a fabulous biker and a very professional car rider. She
fought for 19 months to receive a license for​ Himalayan car rally​ and
became the first person to receive a license for this invalid car rally to
meet her husband in the Kargil as the rally go through the Kargil roads
and made celebration after 10 years of winning the war.

She also made a world record to drive on the highest motorable roads
and has ridden the Raid-De-Himalaya 2009 and Desert Storm 2010.
Not only in the car rallies she is also an adventure biker and the first
disabled person in India to receive a license from the ​FMSCI
(Federation Motor Sports Club of India)​. She became the first Indian
woman in the world to drive a bike on the roads of Leh and Ladakh.
Because of this she also entered the Limca Book of World Records for
the fourth time.
 
Swimming 
 
Deepa Malik is truly an achiever, her achievements start but not ends.
She first highlighted through her swimming talent as her first love is
swimming but after the accident, she has chosen other sports such as
shot put, javelin throw and discus throw and make these games her
primary sports.
But she does not left swimming and again joined the swimming and
swam for 1 km in Yamuna river against the current and made two
Limca Book of World Records to her name.

She has also won silver and bronze medals in swimming in 2007.

Motivational Speaker 
 
Deepa Malik is a very well-known motivational speaker. Her
motivational thinking and make everyone inspires through her story,
she tells about her struggle in life and how she overcomes her
difficulties and made whole India proud for winning the silver medal in
the Paralympics and becoming the first woman who has won any
medal in Paralympics.

Her motivational speech makes all Indians inspire as she is a very


powerful motivational speaker. Her words make a person strong and
gives a new hope to the depressed life, her words gives you the power
to face any situation or any big difficulty and overcome it.

Her speech made the people to live their life with full enthusiasm and
some words from her motivational speech:

“Get up and break the stereotype, think outside the box, create
opportunities, continue to learn, these are the mantras which I
followed in my life and because of this only today I am probably called
as a motivational speaker in front of you all.”

There were so many people who doubted her nursing and caring for
her children and how she will spend her whole life while sitting on a
wheelchair only, people gave her sympathy and told her that she will
be homebound and won’t go anywhere in her life.

She always hates to be treated as a patient but wants to be treated as


a normal person who just got naturally on a wheelchair.

 
Just to show them and shut their mouths and make them know about
her spirit she decided to stand up and remove these all stereotypes
against her as she always says that “my body is paralyzed but my soul
is still alive” and that makes her strong enough to not only participate
but also winning medals and make the world records.

Writer 
Deepa Malik is also a professional writer. She has written her
biography to inspire all those persons who are physically disabled or
have some inferiority complex. Inspiring by Deepa Malik’s story it can
easily be said that “ignore your disabilities and know your abilities” as
every person has challenges in their life but to ignore the challenges is
not a solution.
A person has to fight the challenges and make himself proved that
one deserves his success.

Writing is her passion, she writes on behalf of her life, her struggle in
life, her passion for living her life and play whatever sports she wants
to.

She writes to inspire the youth who makes excuses for any work, who
wants to be in their comfort zone, who doesn’t want to be hurt, who
lives in fear of facing difficulties but they should know that life is full of
challenges and a person cannot run from his challenges and has to
learn to face every challenge with courage and confidence.
She was also an entrepreneur and ran her catering and restaurant
business for 7 years.
