You are going to see images of five cities and their landmarks. Write a
paragraph describing each city and country it belongs and the landmark shown.
Use the vocabulary from the box for the descriptions. The first one is done for

New York is a big city in the

New York (USA) – The Statue of Liberty
United States (North
America). It takes thousand
of visitors every year. The city
has a population of around 8
million people. There is a lot
to see and do in New York.
You can visit the Central
Park, the Metropolian
museum and Time’s Square.
In the picture you can see the
Statue of Liberty, a monumet
built between 1875 and 1986.
It is 93 meters tall. The statue
is located on Liberty Island in
the Hudson River.
 Rome is a city with a lot of
history and is the capital of Italy.
It had around 123 million visitors
in 2018. The city has a
population of around 2.8 million
people. There is a lot to see and
do in Rome. You can visit the
Roman Forum, the Roman
Colosseum, St. Peter's Square,
Fontana Di Trevi. In the image
you can see the Plaza de San
Pedro, a monument built
between 1656 and 1667. It is
320 meters long and 240 meters
Rome (Italy) – Saint Peter’s Square wide. This monument is located
in the Vatican City.
Sydney is the largest and most
populated city in Australia and
Oceania. It had around 7.9
million visitors in 2018. The city
has a population of around 24.6
million people. There is a lot to
see and do in Sydney. You can
visit Sydney Harbor Bridge,
Taronga Zoo, The Sydney
Opera House and the Royal
Botanic Garden of Sydney. In
the image you can see The
Sydney Opera House, designed
Sydney (Australia) – The Sydney Opera in 1957 and inaugurated on
House October 20, 1973. It is 185
meters long and 120 meters
wide maximum. This building is
located in the state of New
South Wales, Australia.
 Edinburgh is the capital and
council of Scotland. The city has
a population of around 482,005
people. There is a lot to see and
do in Edinburgh. You can visit
Palace of Holyrood, Old City of
Edinburgh, Edinburgh Castle,
Calton Hill, Museum of
Scotland, Edinburgh Cathedral.
In the picture you can see
Edinburgh Castle, built in the
12th century. This castle is built
on the top of an impressive 700
million year old extinct volcano,
Edinburgh (Scotland) – Edinburgh Castle on Castle Rock Hill.
Dubai is an Emirati city, capital
of the emirate of the same
name, one of the seven United
Arab Emirates. It had around 16
million visitors during 2018. The
city has a population of around
3,137 million people. There is a
lot to see and do in Dubai. You
can visit Dubai Mall, Dubai
Fountain, The Burj Khalifa,
Dubai Museum, Wild Wadi.
In the image you can see The
Burj Khalifa, a skyscraper built
Dubai (United Arab Emirates) – The Burj between 2004 and 2010. It has
Khalifa a height of 828 meters and is
the tallest building in the world.
This building is located next to
the Sheikh Zayed Avenue,
which crosses the city of Dubai
transversely.
