Divorce should be allow in the Philippines, to free a bird in a cage

People who are in love in each other or mutually in love become a couple. When a couple
decided to married, they will be engage and have a wedding. Having a wedding at church is
sacred, because they give their vow in front of God and they promise to love each other in their
lifetime or forever.

Marriage happens when two people decided to be together, in good times or bad times.
They promise to support each other in every circumstances and problem they faced.
Circumstances and problem are always there to a married couple but there is a limit to
everything. There is a problem that can’t be solved by talking because it only causes
disagreement that leads to divorce.

Divorce is not allowed in the Philippines but most of the foreign country like America
permits divorce. Divorce is a legal process in which a married couple can be separated legally
and have a status which is single and can marry other person again. Philippines should permit
divorce because most of the spouses are treated cruelly or experiencing abuse by their partner,
and some are being cheated by their husband/wife or infidelity. Philippines only permit an
annulment where it cancels a marriage between a man and a woman.

Catholic Church is the one that strong disagree and do not want to implement divorce.
Because according to them “What God has joined together, no man, no human being must
separate. No to divorce.” But because of the awful experience of a spouse, divorce should be
implemented. So that they can be free from the miserable life that they had and experienced.

According to the survey that Social Weather Stations (SWS) had in 2017 among the 1200
respondents nationwide, 30 % strongly agreed and 23 % agreed to have a divorce at the
Philippines. The percentage in Philippines who want divorce rose since the first survey in 2005.
They are the married couples who are already separated and cannot reconcile anymore, they
want a divorce so that they can get legally married again and have a freedom.

The spouses, who are treated cruelly and had a difficult marriage life, should have a
divorce and be legally be single again. It is not right to be abuse by other people special when
that person is someone who gave their vow to protect and love their wife. According to the
survey that AARP had, 66 percent who divorce are initiated by women. 53 percent said that they
divorce because they experience emotional abuse by their partner. Abuse can not only be applied
in being mistreated in physical state but also in emotional state. The husband, who abuses their
wife emotionally, said to their wife that they are inadequate, ugly, and stupid and bring their
confidence down. After the women divorce they said that it is refreshing to be free again and do
what they want to do in their life and pursue their interest without being rule or dictated by
someone. If divorce is implemented in the Philippines a lot of women are going to be free like a
bird and they will have a better life.

They promise to love each other eternity but promise meant to be broken. According to
the studies that they had in the last five to ten years, reveal that 45-50% of married women and
50-60% of married men engage in extramarital affairs at some point in their relationships.
Infidelity is the act of being unfaithful to their spouse or having a sexual intercourse to the other
person who is not their wife/husband. Some of the married couple does not want to divorce even
if they knew or discovered that their partner cheated on them because they are worry about their
children and the alternative, but if their children are old enough and if a married couple does not
have a child, it is possible to have a divorce. Philippines should have a divorce so that a
wife/husband that is being cheated by his/her owned spouse will be legally single again and that
person will not be hurt emotionally by his/her spouse doing to him/her.

A married couple should treasure each other and the two of them must have
understanding, patience, and love, to have a long lasting relationship. If a couple have a
misunderstanding they should talk about it and look for a possible solution because violence and
infidelity is not a solution. It only makes the situation worst and the worst situation is to have a
divorce. Divorce must be done when one's safety is at stake, when one's health is being abuse
and when one's partner is no longer love their spouses and cheated on them. Philippines should
permit divorce so that a bird in a cage can be free and do things that they liked. Religion or being
Roman Catholic should not have a power to stop the divorce, if the reason of the divorce is to
free someone who is being abuse and experience violence by their partner. If Philippines allow
the divorce to be implemented many Filipinos will be free by their spouse who abuses their
owned husband/wife. A lot of people will be happy and have their freedom to do what they want
to do freely. To avoid divorce, the husband/wife should treat their partner preciously and value
them like a precious gem.
