Clinical SAS programming

Introduction

India is moving from the manufacturer of bulk generic drugs to one of the leading
players in the clinical research industry. Clinical trial analysis and reporting with SAS
software is one of the main activities performed as part of clinical research. Due to the
high availability of qualified resources, innovative capacity and low costs, this
specific segment of resources is highly recognized and more work is outsourced today
than in the past

The SAS clinical programming industry in India has experienced rapid growth over
the past decade and the trend seems to continue over the next two years due to cost
advantage and the availability of skilled labor. On the one hand, industry needs focus
on less lead time, higher margins, segmented tasks, and delivering high quality results
with minimal oversight. Due to the increase in demand for skilled resources,
programmers' needs have taken a different diversion towards diversified exposure.

The drug development is a clinical process that has its own language. SAS
programmers do not have to function as MDs or regulatory specialists, but working
knowledge of terminology is important to being effective. A large number of tools
and techniques emerge to maintain a high level of medical care. Clinical SAS is the
use of SAS technology in the clinical domain for the purpose of conducting clinical
analysis in pharmaceutical or clinical research companies. SA clinical data integration
simplifies, standardizes, and controls clinical research data and metadata. In addition,
clinical SAS is applied to take care of advanced levels of analysis. It is a software
widely applied in Business Intelligence. It is used to control large amounts of data and
to observe and infer from the data. Statistical analysis is performed mainly by the
SAS clinic.

Scope of SAS

There is a great range of cooler SAS. Banks use SAS heavily, as do insurers and
other financial services companies such as Citi, HSBC, JP Morgan and Wells Fargo.
The reasons are:
⚫ They have been using SAS for years and have systems built around SAS
⚫ SAS is safer than open source tools like R and Knime, very important for Basel II
data and standards security and more legal standards
⚫ SAS introduced Big Data capabilities in conjunction with SAS JMP and SAS
Visual Analytics.
⚫ Production level capability: SAS can put its analysis into production on banking
and financial systems. R doesn't have that, although we need to see where
Revolution R accumulates (bought by Microsoft).

Conclusion

To maintain a high level of health care and make the health industry thrive, a
number of tools and techniques are being developed and Clinical SAS is one of those
robust software widely used in this domain for reporting and analysis. SAS, a
computer programming language used for statistical analysis, is becoming completely
indispensable to the healthcare industry. The need to learn and adapt to the SAS
programming culture in clinical research is because this research is designed to
answer specific biomedicine questions, including new treatment techniques,
nutrition-related information, and medical devices. This clinical database management
ensures data collection, integration, and availability and statistical manipulation.
Clinical research also involves clinical trials conducted by experiments and research
observations. Research assessments generate safety and accuracy data for any desired
product (drug or device) or medical procedure or service.
