Nuyritional Impact of Biodiversity

According to World Health Organization (WHO) biodiversity is a vital element of a human being's
nutrition because of food production. It has a major factor in sustainable food production. Society must
have access to a sufficient variety of nutritious food. Nutritious food is a determinant of the health of a
human being.

Nutrition and Biodiversity are linked at many level:

 The ecosystems, with food production as an ecosystem service


 The species in the ecosystem
 The genetic diversity within species

The nutritional composition of every variety of food are different like food use for die, this are food
affecting the micronutrient availability in the diet. We don’t need to skipped meals when we are in a
diet, just take a food for diet. A healthy local diet with adequate levels of nutrients to intake.

Intensified and enhanced food production through; irrigation, use of fertilizer, plant protection
(pesticides), introduction of crop varieties and cropping pattern. This may affect the biodiversity and
thus impact in global nutritional status and human health.
