There are several effects of the presence of an increasing number of skyscrapers

in big cities. The first impact of high-rise buildings is that thanks to them, the
quality of urban residents’ life has been substantially enhanced. Many skyscrapers
are high-rise apartment buildings providing affordable flats which vary in size and
design. Consequently, more accommodation is available and city dwellers do not
have to struggle with housing shortage in overpopulated cities. Skyscrapers
occupy less land in comparison with low-rise blocks leading to the fact that more
space is left for open-air places such as parks or playgrounds, which enable urban
citizens, especially children, to spend their leisure time in a safe environment. As
a result, public health is greatly improved. Another profound influence of
skyscrapers is the contribution to the evolution of economy in big cities. Some
high-rise towers are so well-known that they represent for the image and beauty
of cities; hence, more and more tourists fancy the idea of travelling to those cities
and tourism is rapidly developed there. High-rise buildings also attract a large
number of offices and organizations which boost the local business. In general,
obviously, the growing number of skyscrapers put impacts on the quality of urban
life and the local economy.
