GENERAL OBJECTIVE:

At the end of this unit student should acquire the knowledge about: Nursing Management of patients (adult including Geriatric) with Neurological
disorders and develop proficiency in caring for patients with medical and surgical disorders in varieties of health care setting and at home,
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

Students will be able to:

1. Explain review of anatomy and physiology


2. Explain the Glasgow Coma Scale

3. Understand and explain about Etiology, Pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, treatment, modalities and nursing
management of adults including elderly with

 Congenital malformation
 Headache, Head injuries
 Spinal injuries
 Paraplegia
 Hemiplegia
 Quadriplegia
 Spinal cord compression- herniation of intervertebral disk
 Tumors of the brain and spinal cord, Intra cranial and cerebral aneurysms
 Infections:
 Meningitis, encephalitis, Brain abscess, neurocysticercosis
