Overview 

This is a class incorporating improvising and copying aspects.

Rationale 

My Rationale is I would like my students to understand the importance of self expression and group
interaction

I Can Statements (learning goals) 

● I can have students identify the form of the song using movement patterns
○ VA SOL 2.5.3. The student will respond to music with movement, including creating
movement to illustrate AB and ABA musical forms.
● I can have students freestyle improvise their movements in relation to the music
● I can engage the students in my class for the full 40 minute class period without lack of
interest.
● I can have my students sing with me for the intro song and transfer to the lesson without
distraction between.
● I can calm my students back down and prepare them to go back to their main classroom by
the end of class.

● “​Hello there” teach them the song - 5 min


● Scarf activity with different music - 7 min
● Reading a book to students - 5 min
● Read book with student produced noises - 5 min
● Movement Lesson Plan - 8 min
● Open Jam with students selecting from a few instruments or
singing - 8 min
● “Goodbye song” teach them the song - 5 min
