Title: Application of Algebra in daily life as perceived by the Junior High School students

Research Design: Descriptive/Qualitative

Research Question: 1. What is the learning of the students in Algebra?

2. 2. What are the applications of Algebra as perceived by the student?

3. What are the problems encountered by the students in learning Algebra?

4. What are the suggestions of the students on how they will effectively learn

the Algebra?

Sample: 40 Junior High School students from SMNHS

Sampling: Purposive Sampling

Instrument & process of validation: Questionnaire/ Weighed Mean

Data Collection Procedure: Writing a letter addressed to the SHS administrators to seek approval to
conduct the study in SMNHS

• Coordination with The SMNHS administrators ( including the grade level coordinators of eacj respective
grade level.)

• Administering the data gathering

Data Analysis: frequency and percentage

Gaps: We/The researchers only used Algebra not the other disciplines of mathematics such as Geometry,
Trigonometry, Calculus etc.

• We/The researchers didn't include the Senior High School students as our/their respondents.

Recommendation:Algebra is not only the branch of mathematics that is visible for many applications.
Also we can includ Hence, we can combine all of its disciplines to make another research topic.

Possible research topic: Application of Mathematics in daily life as perceived by the students of San
Mateo National High School.
