Creager, Reid. “North Carolina's Fading Forests.” Charlotteobserver, Charlotte

Observer, 27 Mar. 2016,
www.charlotteobserver.com/news/science-technology/article67735547.html.
This is the first article that I discovered when researching this topic and it seemed to
me like it was very reliable due to the fact it was published by the newspaper of the city
that I live in and the author seemed to be very well informed on the topic. I also find it
very interesting that this was more than just an article that went straight to the point and
addressed some of the misconceptions. The more local that the information I can find
the better, this felt like to me it was the best option when it comes to reliable information.
Also this article does ask the reader to look around the areas that they live and that can
really be a good thing when it comes to getting the word out there because this is a big
paper that a large amount of people read. May be a possible contact that I may need to
look into when it comes to my project and trying to make myself heard so that
something real can be done. Also this article addresses something that I have noticed
on a number of occasions that a very large amount of people may not realize that
problems like climate change even happen somewhere close to where they live like in
charlotte north carolina where the problem seems to be specifically deforestation.

Griffith, Rhiannon. “Deforestation in North Carolina Areas.” Prezi.com, 26 Sept. 2016,

prezi.com/lsr7faqu_ojr/deforestation-in-north-carolina-areas/

I felt that this presentation was a very interesting way to address a local issue such as
deforestation and that this presentation is a very good way for the youth and the
younger people who are interested in the topicand may want to be more informed on
the situation. Also Rhiannon does a very good job at explaining the goals of the energy
companies for example who are burning trees for energy possibly not realizing the
damage they are causing, giving us a view of the corporate side of this issue. One of
the main reasons that i used this source was because all of the other sources that I
gathered were articles from companies and stuff like that very official but I felt that this
one was written by one of us and when I say us I mean the people who are trying to
inform others who may be interested in the topic and wondering like I was a few years
ago, is this problem even real and will it ever affect me? I discovered that the problem is
more than real and has been here for a long time, that's why I used this source because
when reading it, it seemed as if the author was also just realizing this problem was real
and felt that it was sad there was nothing that seemed to have been done to slow this
down or to stop it.
“NC Forest Data.” North Carolina Forestry Association,
www.ncforestry.org/nc-forest-data/.

This was quite possibly the most important source that could have been used when it
comes to getting the right facts together for a research paper. This page has all the
facts of the forests here in north carolina and this had the best information and possibly
some that I even missed because this had so much information in it. Some of this is
even a little too much and hard for me to fully understand. While yes I do appreciate the
information that I can gather here and better my research papers, that is what
everybody does including those companies that are cutting down the trees, they look at
the numbers and probably make it seem as if there is no problems and may use these
numbers in their defense when people say approach them with this issue. While I may
not want to use these numbers they may just be the best information i can use because
it provides my paper with the facts that it needs to prove that there is nothing anywhere
that supports the idea that deforestation is doing no damage to our community and our
ecosystem.

This source was a very interesting one to me because it was one where the author started by
mentioning a letter that is being sent to the governor about this problem in our state. This really
hit me because this is one of the first signs to me of somebody actually taking some sort of
action, this is a person who has done the research already and who was able to script a letter to
a governor addressing these problems which is why the rest of this article ott me was important
to include with my research in aiding me to feel good about the information I had gathered. This
article also has more than just the point of view of the author because really there are several
authors and they are all involved in relaying all of the facts and the information that was
gathered informing all of the readers in different ways and also reading all of thee especially this
one makes me think about the structure of my paper. Although the paper itself must be written
by me and the fast and opinions will all be my own i think that this article maybe made me think
of what other people may think of m paper sort of writing this as not only a research paper but
maybe with the intention to inspire others to do the same thing and have their concerns maybe
even about other topics heard. I felt that the information in this article was very well organized
and although the information i may have found was not completely new i really did admire the
layout and felt that helped me realize that the way that i am structuring my paper which is the
same topic really is very important in how people are reading it and taking in the information i
am trying to relay to them in a specific persuasive sort of way.

Hubbard, Amanda. “North Carolina Forest Service.” North Carolina Forest Service,
www.ncforestservice.gov/forest_health/current_concerns.htm

This article i found very important to use because it addressed a problem that my topic faces
that I may not have even realized without seeing this one. This article really is the first one to
actually start off by addressing the problems that this will be causing more of the smaller
aspects and the future issues that will become a problem very fast . Once these sort of things
are being noticed in this article it really has become too late to do much. One of the first things
that we would notice is a lack of our water and that is a topic that I will not address here
because it is more of a sub top[ic in my paper and just something smaller that people may start
noticing before they realize that all of the trees that used to be in their area are gone. I feel like
this article out of all of them is the one that may have reached the audience the best because it
is really saying the things nobody wants to hear but that everybody needs to hear. Although
every article and presentation I considered was an upsetting thing to read this one is the most
upsetting to me because it just really got me thinking back to the reason i even decided to do
this because the amount of people contributing to the problem compared to the amount of
people speaking out or even taking action is honestly very disturbing because this is such an
important issue not only locally but globally. The info that I read over in this specific article
helped me realize the extent of information i may need to include, weather it is mainly facts and
information or mainly my opinion and reasoning for writing m y paper.
