Conducting Lab #3 Reflection

This week I had a lot of issues to iron out. I’ve reverted to showing every beat with my

whole body and not just the baton. I need to still the rest of me so my ensemble focuses on

where the baton is and I communicate to them as clearly as possible. When I shift between loud

dynamics and soft dynamics, I have improved my use of the plane but am hunching over when I

shift into the soft dynamic. I need to work on keeping my back straight and showing dynamics

with my left hand and the shift in my patters size but nothing else. My prep beats between

dynamic shifts were not always present. I need to make sure that I am giving a very clear prep in

the new dynamic before the dynamic shift actually happens. I also need to keep watching where

my ictus is. It was not always in the same place which led to confusion in my ensemble and

caused them to rush.
