I. Objectives
a. The learner demonstrates the understanding of the structure and function of plants involved in
photosynthesis
b. The learner should be able to design and conduct an investigation to provide evidence that
plants can manufacture their own food.
II. Content
PHOTOSYTHESIS
IV. Procedures:
Introductory activities
A. Greetings
“Good morning class!” “Good morning Sir!”
B. Opening prayer
“Earl, lead us the prayer!”
“In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy
Spirit, Amen!”
“Please be seated.”
C. Checking of Assignment
Okay! “Leaders of the group, did you check the “Yes Sir1”
assignment of your group members?”
Activity/Strategy
Motivation
“So who can tell me what the diagram is all about? Jan Mae: “Balancing equation ma’am because there
Moreover, why do you think so? Yes, Jan Mae?” is a chemical equation.”
Analysis
“So our topic for today is all about photosynthesis”
“So what is now the first step/place that takes place Elizabeth: “The chlorophyll which is the green
in the process? Yes Elizabeth? pigment inside the chloroplast in the plant cells
captures the energy coming from the sun.”
“Very well said. Who else? Yes, Hatori?” Hatori: “The captured light energy is used to produce
glucose from water and carbon dioxide.”
“That’s correct last one. Yes, Jemarie?” Jemarie: “The sugar/glucose produce are used by the
plant cells for energy and also oxygen exits through
the stomata on the underside of the leaf.”
“Yes all that you have been said are true. Basically
that is how the food making of the plant happens. Are “None ma’am”
there any questions?”
Application
1. Put one plant in bright light, one plant in dim light, and one plant in the dark and see what happens.
2. Water one plant heavily, one plant a little, and another plant not at all.
3. Put one plant outside, one plant in an enclosed space, and another plant inside a plastic bag with most
of the air forced out.
Assessment
Enumeration and Identification
1-3 the reactants in the process of photosynthesis
4-5 the products in the process of photosynthesis
6. It captures the light energy from the sun.
7. It is a process whereby plants manufacture their own food.
8. It is where oxygen exits and it is found underside of the leaf.
9-10 the general balanced chemical equation of photosynthesis
Assignment
Study the next topic and answer the Enrichment Activity on a one whole sheet of paper on pp. 174.
