Subject: PROVISION OF FUNDS THROUGH BRIDGE FINANCING UNDER

GRANT NO. PC-22036 FOR AN ADP SCHEME GOING TO COMPLETE
ITS GESTATION PERIOD ON 30.06.2018

It is submitted that Accreditation has become an important issue to people

all over the world. ISO/IEC 17025 is an ideal management system for laboratories
because it aims to control quality costs, improve measurement accuracy and guarantee
consistency of results. When implemented correctly, the elements of ISO/IEC 17025
work accurately together to ensure that required quality levels are met and that
customers' needs are satisfied. An accredited laboratory shows current and potential
customers that laboratory is committed to quality and has demonstrated technical
competency to perform testing services. By becoming accredited, laboratory can shift to
an efficient management system, improved testing, international recognition and
increased accuracy. Keeping in view the importance of this aspect, ADP Project entitled
“Accreditation of AARI laboratories for ISO-17025" was initiated with gestation
period 2016-17 to 2017-18 at a total cost of Rs. 120.614 million. The main objectives
of the project were.

Subject: USE OF SULPHURIC ACID TO ENHANCE CROP PRODUCTION

Reference: your office Endstt. No 1548/Plan./ dated 17.01.2019

Kindly find below comments on the subject cite above.

1. Sulphuric acid (H2SO4) is a soil amendment which can improve soil salinity but
not a substitute of plant nutrients. Moreover, It should be applied after doing
soil test for determining the suitability and appropriate rate
2. Sulphuric acid (H2SO4) can be beneficial only certain soils which have high pH
and medium to high levels of free lime.
3. Moreover the effects of Sulphuric acid (H2SO4) are temporary due to buffering
capacity of soil.
4. If applied in higher does it can burn organic matter of soil which is already very
low in our soils and affect microbial community in soil.
5. Because our soils have alkaline in nature under which micronutrients are less
soluble. Application of H2SO4 can lower the pH but the amount of acid needed
to lower the pH would be cost prohibitive in terms of what is gained. It is far
cheaper to purchase fertilizer than to decrease soil pH.
