Skills Analysis

For each section, you must consider what your strengths and weaknesses are based
off the previous few weeks (and anything you may have done prior to the course).

Camerawork I have learnt the basic of camera work such as zooming in and knowing how to
focus using manual focus. I have gone and took a few pictures by the river in
Henley. I also asked my step dad if he could use this camera to take my prom
pictures. Therefore, I know how well this camera can be used. However, I would
like to learn new skills with my camera so that I can use it in many different ways.

Editing Editing has not really been my favourite part. This might be because I find it more
difficult. However, when we filmed a short film editing on adobe premiere was
quite fun. This is because I got to change the speed and colour. I also got rid of bits
of the clip I didn’t need to make my video much better. This was the first piece of
editing I did and I feel like it helped me loads as I got to know the basics of editing.
I can now use the basic skills I learnt to start doing more complex things.
Idea Generation Coming up with ideas is one of my favourite parts. This is because when my ideas
are used I feel like as the project goes along I can improve my ideas and make
them even better until I am 100% happy with what I have done. My first idea will
not always be the best and will be very brief. However, as the filming or pictures go
along I will start to change my ideas for the better. To improve my ideas I would like
to spend a bit more time in class to actually write my ideas down and expand on
them so that I can make sure that’s what I actually want to do.
Analysis Even though not many people enjoy analysis when we was analysing The
Godfather I quite enjoyed this. This is because we did this a lot in secondary school
so I found it quite easy and what I’m used to. For example, I can say something
about the movie and expand on it with a few more point. I learnt a lot about
connotations and denotations and mise-en-scene in secondary so not much of it is
new to me so I can just get on with the work quickly.
People Working with new people is a struggle for me because the communication won’t
Management be as good. For example, I would just express an idea and they would just agree
with me and not expand on what I’m saying. However, if I’m with people I get
along with then my work will be done and I trust the people to also help me up if
I’m stuck. I also need to work with people who are willing to actually do the work
and get it done. Otherwise, I will begin to stress as I’ll get scared the work won’t be
complete then it all just fails.
Time Keeping Time keeping is the hardest bit for me. One reason is because I don’t have the
facilities at home to complete my work. Therefore, I have to go to the learning
centre whenever I have free time. However, when were in lesson and I have
finished the task I will always do little things that I need to complete.

Improvement Plan To work quicker in lessons as I am a slow worker. To make sure everything is in order,
detailed and titled so that others know what it is what they are reading or
watching. To make sure I help my team mates out if they are struggling and to
have everything I need on my website or at least saved on a usb stick so I can
upload it later on.
