Greetings students!

Your final assignment for this year is going to be on the 1892 text The Yellow Wall-Paper. For this you
will be required to complete an assessment piece of your choosing.

Choose whichever task most appeals to you and your learning style. However, if you are aiming for a
high mark, I strongly encourage you to complete tasks four or five.

Task Description
Task 1: Watch summary and analysis (2:06-8:53) of The Yellow Wallpaper in provided video.
Your task involves utilizing graphic organizers to having a discussion with Ms
Cunningham to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding.

Task 2: It is rumoured that the narrator in The Yellow Wall-Paper was modelled after
Charlotte Perkins Gilman herself. Learn about Charlotte Perkin Gilman’s life and
using text examples about the narrator, discuss whether you agree or disagree in an
exposition.

Task 3: The Yellow Wall-Paper is believed to have elements of Gothic Horror. Write an
exposition on why you agree or disagree with this. Use examples of language
features, setting, characters, themes and/or mood from the text to prove your
points.

Task 4: The narrator was diagnosed as having “temporary nervous depression” a.k.a.
Neurasthenia. Complete an explanation piece on what this disorder is, and what
symptoms the narrator showed and developed throughout The Yellow Wall-Paper.

discussion piece that demonstrates how The Yellow Wall-Paper was a social
commentary on gender roles. Were both men and women archetypes of 19th
century gender construction?
