Entrepreneur and businessman Bill Gates and his business partner Paul Allen
founded and built the world's largest software business, Microsoft, through technological
innovation, keen business strategy and aggressive business tactics. In the process,
Gates became one of the richest men in the world. In February 2014, Gates announced
that he was stepping down as Microsoft's chairman to focus on charitable work at his
foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (A&E Television Networks,2019)
Microsoft Corporation is an American multinational technology company with
headquarters in Redmond, Washington. It develops, manufactures, licenses, supports
and sells computer software, consumer electronics, personal computers, and related
services. Its best known software products are the Microsoft Windows line of operating
systems, the Microsoft Office suite, and the Internet Explorer and Edge Web browsers.
Its flagship hardware products are the Xbox video game consoles and the Microsoft
Surface lineup of touchscreen personal computers. As of 2016, it is the world's largest
software maker by revenue, and one of the world's most valuable companies. The word
"Microsoft" is a portmanteau of "microcomputer" and "software". Microsoft is ranked No.
30 in the 2018 Fortune 500 rankings of the largest United States corporations by total
revenue (Forbes,2017).
Technopreneurship will help us engineering student to explore and expand our
knowledge to a whole new limit. It enhances our abilities because it tackles more about
the society and what it demands. Also, our knowledge and creativity are well fitted to
entrepreneurship because we can use it to not just invent or build a product but to build
a company around it that supports our product to a whole new level. Having this course
will improve every ability that engineering has mostly in socializing and communicating
to other people. We are also going to know how money works in our world more and to
use it in different ways.
