This brief guide is only intended for people who are having difficulty clearing

Genesis Cave.

NOTE: if you just don't want to deal with it at all, you can apply the little patch
I have provided (StunningSteel - easyGC.ips) which alters the Rocket Admin's team
and knocks everyone down a few levels. In the new team, Salamence has turned into a
Sunflora and Houndoom has been usurped by a nasty Dunsparce. Use Steelix for Crobat
(changed him to HP Dark). Use Hitmonlee or anything else for Porygon2. Use a wild
Gastly for Snorlax.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------

General:
- if you don't mind trying multiple times, hax your way to a W with Mud Slap/Sand
Attack/Smokescreen, ThunderWave, Spore
- bring a lot of items (Revive, Fresh Water, Lemonade)
- my no Gastly/Venusaur run cost me 12 revives and 5 FWs)
- my no Venusaur run cost me 0-5ish revives and 0-5ish FWs (Gastly ftw)
- consider using less straightforward strategies, e.g. instead of directly doing
damage:
- indirect damage: Leech Seed!!, poison, burn, sandstorm
- focus on incapacitating his pokemon first:
- Status: Spore (Venusaur, Breloom), Thunder Wave (Move Tutor in Silph
Co)
- Stats: Sand Attack/Mud Slap (wild dugtrio), Charm (Eevee), Screech
(Steelix), etc
- stall: survive until they run out of power points (PP)
- using items (revive, Fresh Water/Lemonade)
- switching: e.g., against Porygon2 you can switch between Steelix and
someone who resists Ice like Lapras
- wall: look for weaknesses in their sets and try to find a pokemon that
counters them
- e.g., a level 15 Gastly freshly caught completely destroys Snorlax
- consider using battle items (e.g. X Defend) - honestly I've never done this, but
they could theoretically help you overcome 4-move-syndrome.
- Exploit the most broken combo in StunningSteel (that I'm aware of): Drought
Charizard/Ninetales + Chlorophyll Venusaur with Spore = your opponent is always
asleep. (Early Bird Houndoom being the one exception in this battle)

ways to beat Snorlax:

1) Gastly hard counters him - use curse, then hypnosis and nightmare (just catch a
wild gastly in Lavender, lvl 15+)
- I was originally going to make this a level 100 snorlax where essentially
the only way to win is to exploit the fact that he isn't running Shadow Ball, but
Seatrekninja stopped me.
2) Venusaur is faster so hit him with Spore then Leech Seed
3) Hitmonlee with Hi Jump Kick - appreciates paralysis and accuracy support
- thunder wave on e.g. Kadabra/zam
- sand attack/mud slap on something faster than a paralyzed Snorlax
4) Paralyze then just wail on it with Pokemon that know Brick Break
- have to use a lot of items
- try to exploit AI by only using Pokemon that can be OHKOd --> Snorlax won't
use Slack Off if he can OHKO

ways to beat Salamence:

1) Venusaur on the first turn --> he will usually Dragon Dance, so you use Spore,
then Leech Seed, then stall
2) Ice Beam on Blastoise - you should survive one attack and be able to hit back
- will have to heal him to use it again
- get Ice Beam TM:
- hard way: game corner
- less hard way: steal pokemon from the fighting dojo, then win the
second battle against the Karate King
- will receive both Pokemon, holding TMs for Ice Beam and
Thunderbolt
3) Rock Slide on Steelix - he should also survive one attack even after a Dragon
Dance and be able to hit back with Rock Slide
4) lots of other ways. Be creative with your own team!
