License Agreement
All computer programs copyright 1990-2006 by Siemens Corporation or its suppliers. Pro-
grams are licensed under the following agreement:
Siemens or its suppliers retain(s) ownership of and title to any computer program supplied
with the equipment and to the trade secrets embodied in such computer programs. Sub-
ject to the Buyer’s acceptance and fulfillment of the obligations in this paragraph, Siemens
grants the Buyer a personal, non-transferable, perpetual, non-exclusive license to use any
computer program supplied with the Equipment that is necessary to operate the Equip-
ment solely on the medium in which such program is delivered for the purpose of operat-
ing the equipment in accordance with the instructions set forth in the operator’s manuals
supplied with the Equipment and for no other purpose whatsoever. Buyer may not
reverse-assemble, reverse-compile or otherwise reverse-engineer such computer pro-
grams nor may Buyer make a copy of such program or apply any techniques to derive the
trade secrets embodied therein. In the event of a failure by Buyer to comply with the terms
of this license, the license granted by this paragraph shall terminate. Further, because
unauthorized use of such computer programs will leave Siemens without an adequate
remedy at law, Buyer agrees that injunctive or other equitable relief will be appropriate to
restrain such use, threatened or actual. Buyer further agrees that (i) any of Siemens"s
suppliers of software is a direct and intended beneficiary of this end-user sublicense and
may enforce it directly against Buyer with respect to software supplied by such supplier,
and (ii) No supplier of Siemens shall be liable to buyer for any general, special, direct, indi-
rect, consequential, incidental or other damages arising out of the sublicense of the com-
puter programs supplied with the equipment.

The instructions below describe how to load system software on the system.

Approximately 30 minutes is required to load software. More time will be required if the
customer’s data is backed up.
Use the following instructions to verify the system software version of ACUSON X300
ultrasound system.
1. Power on the system and wait for the system to boot up.
2. Press Presets. The Preset Main Menu displays.
The instructions below describe how to load system software on the ACUSON X300.
Observe the following Caution alerts before proceeding.

Approximately 30 minutes is required to load software. More time will be required if the
customer’s data is backed up.
Use (Verify System Software / p. 7)to verify the software version before proceeding.

3. Select Service from the menu on the left side of the screen.
6. Enter the password, then select OK. The Service Main Menu displays.
12. Choose the desired upgrade. If a choice is not made in 30 seconds, the system will de-
fault to Upgrade/Update Installation.
13. After approximately 7-8 minutes, the system will display a pop-up window asking for the
second CD. The CD tray will open. Remove the first CD and insert the second.
1. Press Preset and select Basic System 1 from the left side of the Preset Main screen.
4. Select Peripheral from the left side of the Preset Main screen.
Use the following instructions to verify that the software is operational and to restore data.
During this last phase of the software installation, the system checks the revision level of
the firmware and BIOS, updating them if necessary.
Before continuing, verify the system is now running the new software.
1. Power on the system and wait for the system to boot up.
2. Press the Preset key to display the Preset Main Menu.
4. The system information section of the service preset menu displays the current soft-
ware version. Verify the system software version.
5. At the product information screen, verify that the correct product Serial No. is dis-
played: the number displayed on the product Information screen should be identical to
the product Serial Number recorded on the label attached to the rear of the product.
Sleep Mode 0
The Sleep Mode option is a part of software version 2.0. It can be installed on systems
configured with hardware versions 1.0 or 2.0. The Sleep Mode setup is different for each
system hardware version. Use the set of instruction that apply to the system software and
hardware configuration.
NOTE After installing software version 2.0, the default status of Sleep
Mode is inactive. To activate Sleep Mode, select the Show field of
the Preset Sleep Mode Option.
1. Press the Preset key. The system displays the Preset Main Menu.
2. Select Service from the Presets menu. The system displays the Service Authentica-
tion screen.
3. Enter the password and select Go. The system displays the Service Main Menu.
4. Select Configuration. The system displays the Configuration screen.
5. Select System from the Configuration menu.
6. Select Preset Sleep Mode Option. See (Fig. 18 / p. 27) for location of the option.

The system will display the “Enable Sleep Mode” option on Preset Main Menu, Basic
System 1 screen.
7. Select the Save button. The system saves the changes.
8. Select the Close button. The system displays to the Preset Main Menu.
9. Verify the Enable Sleep Mode option is selected. See (Fig. 19 / p. 28) for location of
the option.

NOTE Systems with hardware configuration version 1.0 do not have the
sleep mode function. Therefore, there is no need to display the
“Enable Sleep Mode” function on Preset Main Menu screen.
If the system hardware includes the DC/DC power supply
(MN: 10010385) and control panel firmware, the Sleep Mode func-
tion can be deactivated by deselecting “Enable Sleep Mode”.
1. Press the Preset key. The system displays the Preset Main Menu.
2. Select Service from the Preset Menu. The system displays the Service Authentication
screen.
3. Enter the password and select Go. The system displays the Service Main Menu.
4. Select Configuration. The system displays the Configuration screen.
5. Select System from the Configuration menu.
6. Deselect the Preset Sleep Mode Option.

The system hide the “Enable Sleep Mode” option unavailable on Preset Main Menu,
Basic System 1 screen.
7. Select the Save button. The system saves the changes.
8. Select the Close button. The system displays to the Preset Main Menu.
9. Verify the Enable Sleep Mode option is not displayed. See (Fig. 21 / p. 30) for location
of the hidden option.
