DENGUE

Dengue is spread by several species of mosquito of the aedes type, principally aedes aegypti.
Aedes aegypti is a mosquito that can spread dengue fever, chikungunya, zika virus and other
diseases. Only the female aedes mosquito bites as it needs the protein in blood to develop its eggs.
The mosquito can be recognized by white markings on its legs and a making in the form of a lyre
on the upper surface of its thorax.

CAUSE
When a mosquito bites a person infected with a dengue virus, the virus enters the mosquito.
When the infected mosquito then bites another person, the virus enters that person's bloodstream.

PREVENTION
Their is no vaccine and no specific medication to prevent and treat a dengue infection. These are
the ways to prevent dengue fever.
*Clean your surroundings. *Use mosquito net when sleeping
*Use mosquito repellent. *If you have a symptoms of dengue
*Wear a long sleeved shirts visit your doctor.
and long pants.

SYMPTOMS
Symptoms can appear up to 7 days after the mosquito bite and last for up to 10 days.
•Mild Dengue Fever
*joint and muscle pain. *intense headache
*skin rashes *vomiting and nausea
*high fever
•Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever
*bleeding (mouth, gums and nose) *lower number of platelets
*internal bleeding *sensitive stomach
*clammy skin *weak pulse
•Dengue Shock Syndrome
*intense stomach pain *regular vomiting
*hypotension *death
*heavy bleeding

TREATMENT
Their is no specific medicine to treat dengue infection. If you think you have dengue fever you
should do the following.
*use or take pain reliever *drink plenty of fluids
*rest *visit your doctor
