“
Kashi was created in a certain form, in seven layers, and the core of Kashi is
Manikarnika Ghat. Right from ancient times, when people started aging,
they moved to Kashi because they wanted to die there. Back then, there was
a live process of enlightenment and the city was constructed as a tool where
if a person went through the seven layers, by the time he reached
Manikarnika, he would be a realized being.
-Sadhguru

Kashi – a city older than history itself and one which has, since time
immemorial, been graced by the presence of innumerable enlightened
beings. Legend says that Lord Shiva himself founded this city which is a
living testimony to the variety and exuberance of the spiritual paths that
India has given birth to.

This ancient city is filled with places of tremendous spiritual significance.

The Kashi Vishwanath Temple – one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, supposed to
have been consecrated by Shiva himself, the Vishalakshi Temple – one of
the Shakti Sthalas, and M anikarnika Ghat – the most sacred cremation spot
in Kashi, which is the heart of the spiritual process that thrived in the city,
are few of the places we will visit.

Kashi’s pre-eminent position as India’s spiritual hub is still alive today, and
can be seen in the hundreds of thousands of seekers who visit the city every
year, and in the thousands of funeral rites that are conducted every day,
echoing the belief that anyone who dies in Kashi attains moksha.

Guided and enveloped by intense meditation processes, satsangs and
chants, the Kashi Krama is an opportunity to enrich one’s life with a sojourn
to a region that has seen a tremendous amount of spiritual work. It is in this
region, close to the Himalayas, that yogis and mystics descending from the
mountains lived and imparted their wisdom.

Isha Sacred Walks offers this program not as a tour, but as a possibility for
deep spiritual transformation imbibing the overwhelming power, energy
and grace of these sacred spaces.
