Self – Image When Your Mirror Needs Adjusting by Ralph Ennis I. Three Important Concepts
1. Self-image is your view of yourself. In Romans 12:3 we are admonished to
have a proper self-image: “ Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with measure of faith GOD has given you.” Do not be either haughty or sef- debasing in your estimation of yourself. Know yourself accurately. 2. Self-worth is the value you place on yourself. Perhaps you place proper value on yourself, treating yourself and others with love, or possibly you despairingly abuse yourself after giving up hope of possessing any value. The goal should be to believe and understand your GOD-given value. 3. Self-love is your love of yourself. JESUS said, “Love your neighbour as yourself” Luke 10:27. Loving yourself in thus quite biblical. Self-love is not arrogance and should not be disdained. We should learn to love ourselves.
